The Sarnia Sting have announced today that Alex Galchenyuk will be having surgery this week to repair a torn ACL.
The incident originally occurred on September 16th in a pre-season game versus the Windsor Spitfires.
Sarnia Sting General Manager Jacques Beaulieu released the following statement regarding the injury.
“Unfortunately injuries like this are a part of the game. Our thoughts are solely with Alex at this time as this was very difficult news to receive. We will be providing Alex with the best care possible as he begins his rehab towards getting back on the ice. We are very hopeful Alex will be back in the lineup towards the end of the regular season.”

Re: 2012 Draft Talk
I think he'll be back before the end of the season. Fortunately for some of us, it means that he'll drop a few spots in the draft.
Re: 2012 Draft Talk
Still a top 10 pick as a floor imo.
Re: 2012 Draft Talk
I had him at #3. If he drops, he'll drop about 5-10 spots.

Sucks for me, Alex Galchenyuk was my favourite player to watch in this class...The Sting won't be as exciting without him. On the bright side, his draft stock is going to plummet, wont shock me if he's in the Leafs range come June.

It's not like they'll pick him.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONSucks for me, Alex Galchenyuk was my favourite player to watch in this class...The Sting won't be as exciting without him. On the bright side, his draft stock is going to plummet, wont shock me if he's in the Leafs range come June.

Re: 2012 Draft Talk
In most drafts sure, but not in 2012...This class is fucking top heavy, missing the entire season will result in 10-15 spots down the rankings, IMO.Cuntacular Chris wroteCOLONI had him at #3. If he drops, he'll drop about 5-10 spots.

Maybe, maybe not, it's still a bonus if he is in our range.Shep wroteCOLONIt's not like they'll pick him.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONSucks for me, Alex Galchenyuk was my favourite player to watch in this class...The Sting won't be as exciting without him. It's also the chance for all of us Leaf fans to get our hopes up, only to go and pick Jacob Trouba, Jordan Schmaltz or Nicolas Kerdiles.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONMaybe, maybe not, it's still a bonus if he is in our range.Shep wroteCOLONIt's not like they'll pick him.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONSucks for me, Alex Galchenyuk was my favourite player to watch in this class...The Sting won't be as exciting without him. Re: 2012 Draft Talk
Are those even real players?
Re: 2012 Draft Talk
I dont know much about the upcoming draft class. What makes it top heavy? Sharp drop off after what range?
Re: 2012 Draft Talk
I wouldn't say there's a sharp drop-off. The draft is top-four or five heavy with franchise talent, followed by a ground of about 8-10 players who have potential franchise talent, but will otherwise have great potential to be stars, and then it drops off another tier to complementary types of talent, and so far. It's a very deep draft. Just from reading and checking out the rankings, it looks like guys like Galchenyuk could drop considerably into the 10-15 range and become a franchise player.
