To me owning means repeatable with skill. The only way Benn repeats that goal is if he gets the same bounces. I find that a lot of puck luck goals get overrated this way. But anyways. Agree to disagree.Nick wroteCOLONBenn pushed it through the last guys feet... owned 3 of them along the boards before hand, one the race to a loose puck despite not having position... just because it wasn't a smooth toe drag doesn't mean it wasn't skill... he owned those guys.

I'm always wanted to do this: "Easy there" on the homerism, Nick.
Re: Highlights from the 2011-2012 NHL Season
I never said it was Goal of the Year. Some guy that uploaded the goal did.

No...Repeatable with skill means repeatable with skill, the term "owned" means something entirely different, I also think you are underestimating the luck involved even in smooth skill plays, the Rick Nash goal against PHX immediately comes to mind (how many times has he done it since?).SuperMario wroteCOLONTo me owning means repeatable with skill. Greatest. Goal. Ever. Fuck Ovechkin and his behind the back shot against Phoenix in his rookie season.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONNo...Repeatable with skill means repeatable with skill, the term "owned" means something entirely different, I also think you are underestimating the luck involved even in smooth skill plays, the Rick Nash goal against PHX immediately comes to mind (how many times has he done it since?).SuperMario wroteCOLONTo me owning means repeatable with skill. This is just flat out inaccurate.SuperMario wroteCOLONWhat? When he turns around two defenders check the puck along the boards. Then when the puck is in the middle of the ice another defender checks it but it gets to Benn anyways.

You have to be good to be lucky. Just sayin'
You won't ever see Colton Orr scoring a goal close to that.

I agree completely. My issue is with people calling this goal of the year material which is inaccurate.bcool wroteCOLONYou have to be good to be lucky. Just sayin'

What's been a better individual effort so far?
The Giroux PP goal to start the year is the only one that comes to mind (and IMO is nicer).

That goal had a lot to do with Benn getting lucky bounces and Columbus being horrible. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a nicer goal in the next week or two.

This. Anointing the Goal of the Year 5 games is the the equivalent of handing the President's Trophy to the team winning the race at the moment.inferno31 wroteCOLONThat goal had a lot to do with Benn getting lucky bounces and Columbus being horrible. Re: Highlights from the 2011-2012 NHL Season
Again, not a single one of us called it goal of the year. It's the title of the video. Next time I'll be sure to download the video and re-upload it with the title "Benn flukes out and everybody overreacts"

You didn't. Nick did. And Kareem insisted that the play was not lucky at all.Shep wroteCOLONAgain, not a single one of us called it goal of the year. It's the title of the video.
Nick wroteCOLONEvery of the GOY candidate requires bounces and mistakes...otherwise it'd be commonplace.
Re: Highlights from the 2011-2012 NHL Season
Who gives a fuck.. it was a nice goal with some luck, no doubt.. but a nice goal nevertheless.
Re: Highlights from the 2011-2012 NHL Season
lol.... with something like 90 games played it's the 2nd nicest individual goal I can recall. not calling it 100% for sure GOY, simply saying IMO it'll be worth watching again, and is a candidate for an end of the year video of crazy goals.
Joe Morrow's goal for the WinterHawks was rather impressive as well, but just as many opposing players made mistakes (if not more) and the skill level is way down. Plus it looks like it was filmed on someone's 3Gs.
