I know a lot of people in here disagreed with me when i said that Seguin would be a winger in Boston, but read Chiarelli's comments below.
"Both kids said they would play any position. I've seen Tyler play the wing. A lot has been written and said that it's a more natural fit for Taylor to come to us because he's a wing and Tyler to go to Edmonton because he's a center. Half the time I've seen Tyler, he's been on wing. He can play wing and frankly, it might be a way to enter him into the NHL, on the wing. Taylor told us that he's played center and loves playing center. That shouldn't be a distinguishing factor."
This came from the following article.

Re: Seguin could be a winger
I will LMAO if Boston is stupid enough to move one of the best young centers in the NHL to the wing. Need or not, that is absolutely retarded. It would be like moving Greg Oden to the 4 spot, because you already have Shaq at center...
As for Chiarelli...There is a difference between driving down the wing, and actually playing wing...Unless he's reffering to Seguins 1st season in the OHL. I stand by my earlier comment, Kyle you are dead wrong. No way in hell Boston does this, it's posturing on Chiarelli's part to appease the fans in the event that Taylor Hall doesn't fall to two.

Re: Seguin could be a winger
Very well could be. I can't speak from personal experience as I have no first hand info. I am just going on research and 2nd hand info. I am assuming that he could be a winger if no moves are made like trading one of Savard, Bergeron or Krejci or even trading up for Hall etc. I know Bergeron can play RW so this may be a possibility. could be an example of what was discussed in here. Bergeron takes the draws and plays RW while Seguin takes the center position but doesn't draw. who knows...
Re: Seguin could be a winger
i've seen both play the other's position, and the competition in junior wasn't good enough... both transitioned seamlessly.

That's good to know. First hand knowledge and self impression is the best.facey wroteCOLONi've seen both play the other's position, and the competition in junior wasn't good enough... both transitioned seamlessly.
Re: Seguin could be a winger
in the mem cup final Hall was playing more then his normal amount of C. the announcers didn't really have anything to say aside from the fact he was like 70% on the dot.mr. bruin wroteCOLONThat's good to know. Re: Seguin could be a winger
Big difference between moving a LW to C, than vice versa...A young centerman with superstar potential is arguably the most important posistion in hockey. Granted the Bruins have a derth of them already (Savard, Krejci, Bergeron, Marchand, Colbourne), but none of them have Seguin's potential, and none of them are as young and impressionable as Seguin. You start his career on the wing, and it will be very difficult to get him to revert back in the future.
I don't doubt that he can play wing, that would be idiotic, but I just can't understand why any team would want him too. He could be a top 7 centerman in 5 years time, that is FAR more valuable than a top 7 winger, and Savard isn't a young buck anymore...

Re: Seguin could be a winger
i dunno how any 1 position is truly move valueable then another. every great winger would benefit huge from a great c and vice versa. that said i'm with u kareem. crazy to move perhaps the most natural, true C over to the wing... he's the top true C prospect canada has kicked out in a while (getzlaf).
