Waiver Question

Post by Chris »

I'm not sure if the NHL endorses this method, but is there a way to make waiver claims "invisible" until the deadline to make a claim has passed?

Well, that's the entire point. If someone makes a claim, people can just research why that person is making a claim, and if they have a higher waiver priority, make the claim themselves. Isn't that one of the issues behind the BBKL Entry Draft?

Dunno what that last sentence is about.

But I too would like invisible claims. I just wonder if it's possible.

Basically GMs being influenced one way or other by a person's claim or a real-life team's picks.

Would be cool if possible, but I don't believe it is. Not unless everyone were to send PM's of their waiver claims to a designated manager in charge of dealing with waiver claims. I wouldn't mind taking on that responsibility if the CC deems it worthy of further consideration.

Issue being someone, say it was me, would feel it cheap to claim players who've had bids put in via PM.

Possible solution: create a new account, to which claims can be submitted. Once waivers end the admins can read the PMs to decide priority

Though I'm happy with the current system.

I like that proposal myself Mike, and it adds a degree of risk when putting in claims which only adds to the authenticity of the league, IMO.

I thought about that solution as well. But it would have to be someone independent. We could use that account for someone who doesn't have a team, but would like to show their proactiveness and interest in joining the BBKL. It would greatly favour their chances of joining...

I'm not to keen on giving a stranger such a responsibility.

Agreed, I would trust anyone in the admin group with that responsibility. Thus far none of them have given us reason to distrust them.

What about the guy with the highest priority? He cannot be trumped, and as such, can make his claim for anyone on the wire. The password for the claims will change from highest-priority to highest priority throughout the season.

Too much work...We would literally have to change the password every time someone makes a claim (and subsequently falls to the bottom of the order).

Both Shoalzie and Billy have proven reliable and willing to lend more to the league, I nominate them to handle making the waiver claims invisible.

Yeah, but such a person needs to be very active to respond to the claims in a timely manner, can Shoalzie do that?
