It could be Canada, and they would still be favourites as far as I'm concerned. Save for Brazil, no team has EVER won a world cup outside of their own continent...DO NOT understimate home field Neel, believe me it makes a substantial difference when an entire nation is backing you.

considering:

1) How every world cup has been held in either south america or europe and north america (only once in the U.S the rest in Mexico),
2) The past host countries have been Italy, South Korea, France, Germany, US, Mexico, Spain, Argentina, West Germany, Brazil and England,

South Africa doesn't exactly stack up (other than against South Korea). I wouldnt consider a home continent to be a home team advantage. And considering fans come from all over the world to support their team, unless youre the host countrys team its really not as big of an advatange. But I'll say this South Africa almost won their 1st game. They can pull it off no doubt. But the odds are against them. Even as a host country.

They have to be one of the hardest pressed hosts to move on. Being said I hope they do, and their weak group helps.

That vavazuu shit though is fucking annoying, I'm sure its great in real life, but I just get a huge buzzing like a million hornets are about to converge on the field.

You can go back even further, and you will notice the home field advantage, just watch South Africa will make it through.
