I also think I explained why I dislike the city fairly well and my comments were based on scenery and a better place to visit, afterall I am giving advice to a foreigner as to what to see and where to go in Canada. I haven't been there either but I work in new newfoundland aka northern alberta and all I see is pictures of NFL/PEI and it looks amazing. Also the culture out there is way different then anywhere else making it a must to get the full canadian experience.

The culture is different in the Yukon and NWT as well but fuck those places lol.

I've lived in new brunswick, I don't think it's a tourist destination the same way the quebec cities on the st.Laurence ,southern Ontario, cabin country, great lakes, and most of the west coast are.

Tofino I really would recommend - simply Breathtaking.

nature (but not so much storms while on vacation lol), autumn colours (N.England should work for the latter)... would be weird for us going to Vancouver Island only to see a city (Victoria); Tofino would be great, but seems impossible in one day.. we were so idiotic to book nights in Vancouver before realizing Vancouver Island would require more than one full day.
Also, ehm, we are not fans of flights (also more expensive i guess), which i guess makes things much worse as for time available.

Well Harbour air isn't too expensive, and really cuts down on travel time. It's float plan and a positive experience.

From downtown Vancouver to naniamo Harbour in 17minutes. It's then 2h45min drive to tofino. Which for my money is a must see, but clearly need to spend at least one night to make it worthwhile. You could do Victoria and back in a single day, although it sucks to spend so much time traveling, you'll enjoy the ferry ride (once) and iirc there is a late one around 10pm which paired with a 7am harbour air flight makes for a compete day. Victoria has several beautiful hikes, including mt.finlayson @ goldstream provincial park. And the city itself has an awesome vibe. Uvic campus is a fun expeience with lots of bunnies and a very green layout. Bouchard gardens is the only garden I have ever seen which entertained me for more then 20minutes.

If you are both fit and enjoy a semi-aggressive hike, the grouse grind is an awesome experience in north vancouver. About a 1hour climb, amazing
View and nice food at the top,
Gondola down (and up if you're not feeling the climb).

Gastown which is the east side of downtown is a really old neighborhood changing from run down to hip, and you should def spend at least one day day exploring.

I need to sleep as my pills are kicking in, but will post a better explanation tomorrow.
