Yeah, but they aren't capable of doing that. That Ottawa/St. Louis switch showed that when this draft that just happened as a pick was still not switched.Nick wroteCOLONIMO the league should be able to handle going on their spreadsheets and erasing SJS with NYI and vice versa.

I don't care if he switches to the Sharks name/logo. It's the fact that it's impossible to trust the league to make the required changes on their spreadsheets, etc.

1) SJS is Tonys favourite team.
2) SJS and its assets will be given to a new GM anyways.
3) Why not give SJS and its assets to Tony and NYI and its assets to the New GM?
4) Conferences remain the same in terms of assets. ONly GMS have changed.

Who cares if GMs agree to take over each other's teams? If Kareem wants to be the Ducks and Cliff wants to be the Caps, why can't they just take over each other's teams/assets? Whats the issue?Mike wroteCOLONAnd soon a couple other guys want to change team names... what do we do? there's no fucking reason for it.The Devil wroteCOLONThe guy wants to be his favourite team.. let's be dick's and say no.. unreal
And BTW this isnt even that. We have an OPEN spot. That open spot will be filled. Why can't a fellow BBKLer be given priority if it's his favourite team, and we give the new GM the other team?

Don't make this personal. First of all, I have no respect for any GM who wants to take over another team, especially if it's better than his current team. Second, I *still* fuck up thinking that Nick is Philly, etc - the problem would only be exacerbated if we allowed more and more switches.SuperMario wroteCOLONWho cares if GMs agree to take over each other's teams? Re: Farewell
I want to point out how massively entitled it seems to me that people who joined well after this league was set up feel they have the right to switch franchises as they see fit.
Re: Farewell
Just chiming in to say that team switching should not be considered a slippery slope in terms of precedent setting - it would require a manager to quit. From everything I have read here, it does not appear that a team switch is Tony's main request - along with the assets he has in Long Island.
What exactly is the issue between the asset (players, prospects, picks) switching? People can't coordinate properly?

Re: Farewell
Actually this is false. He initially wanted to just switch team names while moving all assets over. But that is not possible because logistically it will cause too many issues. So he opted for the 2nd option of taking over the team and its assets. He even said he is willing to take a penalty to make the switch. So it is not like he is trying to profit from the switch. He would suggest it even if SJS was worse than his team. Secondly, "thinking Nick is Philly" really is not a problem in terms of BBKL. It's in your head. Thats not a logical counter. Both points you have made are subjective. I still dont see a "problem" caused by this switch.Mike wroteCOLONFirst of all, I have no respect for any GM who wants to take over another team, especially if it's better than his current team. First off, there are 6 managers with a say in this matter, I am one of them, probably not the best idea to piss me off...Two, each of these managers, save for Scott and Nick are against the swap, last I checked.Mr. Islander wroteCOLONIs this the final answer? Not from Kareem, from everyone.

Making Tony into SJS and taking his assets with him is doable, the TBL/PHI swap had very little issues, but I do admit and see the issue from the OTT/STL swap, people here fucked up.

Re: Farewell
i cant believe how much of a shit people give about what "team" they're labeled as. there is ZERO connection to the real NHL team. it's a logo beside your name on a forum. get over it.
a switch of any kind shows a lack of dedication to the team the GM has spent months/years building, is a logistical nightmare, and opens a whole can of worms in the future.
end of story.
