BBKL Power Rankings - September 18, 2011

Post by Robin Hood »

1. NJD (Last Week: #3) - Keep playing catch-up BBKL. Repeat champ has added Matt Cooke and Alex Burrows.
2. COL (Last Week: #2) - Similar week to NJD. Gagne and Talbot added without a dent to the Active Roster.
3. TBL (Last Week: #1) - Most patient franchise in BBKL. Not a good thing when every contender around you gets better.
4. LAK (Last Week: #4) - If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
5. TOR (Last Week: #7) - Ott, Wideman, Wisniewski, Zidlicky added. The NorthEast Division will have a new winner this year.
6. CHI (Last Week: #6) - Marleau finally traded after more than 3 weeks on the market.
7. STL (Last Week: #8) - The biggest fight for the division title is going to be in the Central (Sorry Kareem/Kyle).
8. BOS (Last Week: #5) - Has been a contender since Day 1 of BBKL. Will never win the championship until more/bolder moves are made.
9. MTL (Last Week: #12) - This team is like a group of Ninjas. And Shane Doan returned to being a Ninja this week.
10. WSH (Last Week: #11) - GM Kareem's involvement in multiple altercations has overshadowed the fact that the Caps finally have Goaltending.
11. OTT (Last Week: #9) - Division-related drop. This team can still take on any team in any week.
12. CLB (Last Week: #16) - Sidney Crosby hit the ice with the BlueJackets at Training Camp after being cleared for non-contact practice.
13. MIN (Last Week: #15) - Playoff Berth looking more and more imminent.
14. SJS (Last Week: #13) - Niittymaki sidelined till December. Sharks counting on Niemi to carry the workload.
15. ANA (Last Week: #14) - Marian Hossa traded for Ryan Johansen. Are the Ducks going full rebuild?
16. BUF (Last Week: #18) - The Nashville Predators of BBKL.
17. NYI (Last Week: #19) - Maybe Carrie Underwood in Long Island will sell some season tickets.
18. EDM (Last Week: #20)- Finally found its Line 1 Center in Vincent Lecavalier.
19. PHI (Last Week: #21) - Ian White begins Training Camp paired up with Nicklas Lidstrom.
20. NYR (Last Week: #22) - A breakout season from Jonathan Bernier will get this team into the playoffs.
21. NSH (Last Week: #17) - Next year can't come soon enough. Kuznetsov and Granlund on deck.
22. PIT (Last Week: #10) - Pens fans clamoring for GM Shiv to be institutionalized.
23. FLA (Last Week: #24) - Panthers still deciding if they're buyers or sellers.
24. VAN (Last Week: #25) - Sean Couturier enters rebuild in progress.
25. PHX (Last Week: #23) - GM Matt had a Baby Boy. Colby aka Cashley (way cooler).
26. DAL (Last Week: #26) - Florida Goalie Tandem flipped for Phoenix' for hopeful improvement in net.
27. WPG (Last Week: #27) - Has enough assets to ice a potential playoff roster if the right trades are made.
28. CGY (Last Week: #28) - Top 2 Protection traded to BOS. Improvements must follow.
29. CAR (Last Week: #29) - Ryan Miller has been on the block for how long?
30. DET (Last Week: #30) - Finally over the Cap Floor.

I get better every day shiv
- one more day of exp for hall, Kane, fowler, etc :-)

But I really like this set of rankings.

Did you mean nick/Kareem for divisional race apology? Kyle/Kareem are different div - or where you saying STL/chi is tighter then TBL/wsh or tor/bos?

Appreciate it shiv

it's not only one spot out... and it's also 21st overall.

last year i didn't even have a full roster to dress in the first weeks and by the end of the season still had a weaker roster than now: i finished 6th in my conference.

Now with a better team i'm supposed to finish 10th and way behind CLB, ANA and EDM? :)

Shiv doesn't know what he is talking about, just like last yr when he gave me no chance to make the playoffs.

Lol Mik, check what I wrote about you in Last Week's Power Rankings. There will be jumps up and down because of inter-conference comparisons as well. The only teams that jumped ahead of you were Eastern Conference teams (because of my full retard blow up this week) and EDM (Vinny). But you could easily be better than EDM too. It will change week to week.

- not sure what that is supposed to explain
- that ranking was retarded already
- EDM is not a eastern conference team (ah, i see you edited)

:) just arguing for the sake of it btw, you're obv fully entitled to have and post your opinion ;)

LOL yeah I noticed that while I was writing. The 1st ranking was the most flawed because its hard to say whether Team A or Team B is better right off the bat. Things become more clear as you do it more than once. I.e. pulling up CBS stats multiple times etc.
