BBKL Playoff Predictions

Post by bma »

Probably do another one closer to when the season starts..

EAST:
1. Tampa Bay
2. New Jersey
3. Toronto
4. Pittsburgh
5. Boston
6. Montreal
7. Ottawa
8. New York Rangers

WEST:
1. Colorado
2. Los Angeles
3. St Louis
4. Chicago
5. San Jose
6. Columbus
7. Minnesota
8. Nashville

Some notes on each division: 1)The SouthEast is a cakewalk for Nick and the Lightning. He will probably be the only team that makes the playoffs in his division.
2) The NorthEast is probably the toughest division in BBKL and it's possible all 5 teams in that division will make the playoffs.
3) The Atlantic is much improved with Philly and NYI becoming bubble playoff teams.
4) The Central is the toughest division in the West. Its very possible that 4 teams in that division will make the playoffs. STL will have stiff competition from Chicago for the division title.
5) The NorthWest should have Colorado run away with this division rather easily. Minnesota should be a playoff team but the other teams have their work cut out.
6) The Pacific should be won by the Kings rather easily once again.

solid forecast. 4 teams from the North East seems like a solid prediction but schedule wise, it will be hard I think as they will be constantly facing each other.

I like to think that I have an outside chance of making the playoffs, but I do know that I have some ways to go before I'm contending.

I think in terms of overall components, if Anderson plays like he's capable of playing (and let's face it, two years ago most Leafs fans were screaming for Fletcher or Burke to sign Anderson), then I think I can squeak in. But my chances are slim to none, and I'm okay with that.

I think that if Arian can put together his roster, he'll have an outside chance of sneaking in. I'm curious about Matt's team as well, but I suppose the veterans know best :)

Agreed. I had a tough time with the last spot in the West. Arian, Matt, yourself and probably some others I forget at the current moment are all right there..

1. Colorado
2. Los Angeles

5. Minnesota
6. San Jose
7. Columbus
8. Nashville

I think I'm better than STL and Minnesota is better than SJ and CBJ

How quickly we forget - Scotts got a single real opponent in his conference (PIT) and is b2b #1 and champ. He just rebuild his team and is now set on improving it. Tripeat regular season is bordering on the safe call.

I do appreciate the love, and if some of my young guns really turn into stars then perhaps you're right I'll be right there with him. And my schedule does have some insanely easy stretches thanks to the south east.

Shook should repeat as #1 in west, weak division and conference in general IMO make him a candidate for first overall as well, but LAK, CHI & STL are all capable teams.

Toronto (Mike) will be shocking some people by winning the north east IMo, although KyLe will now be chapped and finally make a few trades to change that.

i would be hard pressed to guess if in the (not distant) future a combo of COL, VAN, MIN will be better than STL, NSH, CHI.. then you are left with CGY+EDM Vs CLB+DET.
I fail to see major differences in the two divisions moving forward.
It's just speculation anyway..
You are on crack...
the whole thread provides a perfect example of why in the future we should probably not try to balance things out, especially off GMs' requests/whines, and stick to what changes the NHL does.

EAST:

WEST:
1. Colorado

3. St Louis
4. Chicago
5. Columbus
6. San Jose
7. Nashville
8. Phoenix

SE - Like Bry said, cake-walk for Nick
NE - Super tough division. Mike looks to be the favourite in my view atm but Kyle's goalies could carry him once again.
Atlantic - No way I lose to Shiv :)
Central - 3 team race.. I really like the improvements to CHI and CBJ. That division gets tougher by the day. I think only a few points will seperate STL & CHI but Bryz and Shep's periphs will carry him to the division win. CBJ will have something to say as well! Nashville is "respectable"..
NW - Cake-walk for Shook. Will probably win the division by 100 points lol
Pacific - Should produce 3 playoff teams. I like Mashley's attitude going in to the year. He's dead set on making the playoffs and is improving with every trade (with me :(). Steve should win in fairly easily though.. Neel's never around so I have no faith in his team.

The reason the divisions are more balanced is because Scott and I sold off our assets (primarily to Western Conference teams). This is not a natural progression like you argued, nor is the West as good as the East even after I tanked. That parity will only further shift back to the East as Scott continues to improve, and I make a push next season.

As usual, you are wrong, and I am right.

nothing i could add to make you more wrong..
..aside from noting that the new season has not even started and the Central looks already at least as competitive (if not more actually) as the Northwest.
