Nuff said.

Seids was one of the players that was a gem on my team. Good pick up LAK ... scales tilted big time tho.
Exactly. The guy is a stat machine in this league. Usually top 1-3 in league for blocked shots. PP time, tons of SHTOI, hits....he did em all. I am not just bragging up a Bruin either... ;)
I didn't know a defenseman averaging 2 min shtoi a game was tons. News to me.

The only thing Seidenberg is elite at is BS. Thing is he only had like 8 more than schenn.

Schenn is also only 21. Whereas Seidenberg is what, like 29 or 30?

Oh, for all the knocks Schenn gets too for his offense. He only had 10 points less than Dennis and Dennis saw about 90 more minutes of PPTOI.

Did you miss the part where I said Seidenberg got double the PPTOI that schenn got? (schenn had about 80 or so and dennis about 177)

Hell, ES I think Schenn outscored Seidenberg by a point.

I do not discount Schenn as an awesome up and coming d-man at all. I just disagreed with the major extra parts being added to pay for upside. But i digress because i know how much youth in here is worth. Why does Schenn not get any PP time on a team like Toronto before all their moves? I mean what will his placement be this year? Is he bound to be a stay at home defensive d-man?

Schenn should see some more PPTOI this year. As for why he never saw too much in past seasons. Phaneuf and Kaberle just gobbled that shit up.

You also hit the nail on the head Kyle, when you said that you know how much youth costs in this league. It ain't cheap. Especially NHL calibre youth that still has untapped offensive potential while already being one of the better defensive D men in the league.

I think schenn should see upwards of 140 PPTOI this go round.

Why's that. Has he regressed since last year where he saw about .56 pptoii/g? Sure we have franson now, but that doesn't mean schenns Pptoi is going to go from 1 to none. That's retarded. It's also probably in the Leafs interest to see if he can play a spot on the PP.

We added Franson. He'll get a lot of PP time.

I think people are still viewing this trade as a "contender's" trade. I think in the cases of teams who are "rebuilding" it's probably not the best idea to go out and trade for a player who produces roughly the same number that Seidenberg does. On the flip side of that argument, I wanted the upside on my blue-line.

I actually wouldn't have made that trade with another first had I had to use another 2012 1st round pick - so I traded Ottawa's 2013 1st to Steve along with Phoenix's 2012 1st. That's why I was open to trading Steen because for one thing, Steen is more of a scorer than he is an all-around H2H producer. Leblanc, at the very least, might be able to produce numbers across the board - and he might be able to contribute as soon as this year (he'll start in Hamilton). And Ritchie is an intriguing power-forward. So that 1st round pick is redundant to me - I won't be be to use it for two years, and getting someone who can help now, as opposed to waiting for two years to find someone who might be able to help me two years from 2013 seems a bit too long for me.

When I look at the trade in its entirely, I see Seidenberg, Steen, Glennie, Phoenix's 1st for Schenn, Leblanc, and Ritchie. Some might think it's a terrible deal for me, but I see two players who can help me this year and next year, as well as a power-forward prospect who might end up being another James Neal. I also see a guy like Schenn being more than just a shutdown defenseman with 20 points. I think he'll hit north of 30 starting this year. Everyone in Toronto has seen Schenn do Kaberlesque things on the ice, and his ability to rush the puck is very good - he never gets caught. He just needs the coaching staff and more importantly, his own confidence to do it.

I think I'll not only make the playoffs this year, but I'll outplay mouthy cunts like Calgary whose entire team looks like it was patched up by Joey Moss.

He won't see as much as Kaberle use to take up (about 4 a game)

Yup :)

I see St. Louis, Columbus, Colorado, Minnesota, San Jose, Los Angeles as the 1-5 group. After that, it's a mish-mash of Anaheim, Phoenix, Vancouver, Nashville fighting it out. I feel good about my chances though - only question is if the offense will come from RNH, Bailey, and Lupul. I'll keep looking for ways to improve my team.

If not, I'll be content with having a lottery pick. Looks like bergey did one thing right by not trading picks away.

Keeping perry instead of rnh & kassian probably would have helped with those playoff dreams.

Is it some offense for me to comment on a trade you make?
