Any golfers around?
Re: Any golfers around?
Did't know so many of you golfed. I fucking live for golfing. As everyone else feels, wish i was better. Can't get out as much as previous years due to family, new house and stuff. 12 hc is pretty respectable Kareem. I am happy that i shot 85 and then 86 my last two rounds. First time i ever had back to back in the 80's. I also won a case of beer and 20 bucks. That makes me just as happy.
Re: Any golfers around?
Don't you guys that hit the short irons find that to be difficult? The short game is where you determine your scores. Do you have at least one pile of irons 52,56,60 degrees? My buddy hits his PW 150 too and you have to be damn good with the wedges.
Re: Any golfers around?
golf year round in queensland.
don't get out nearly as much as i wish i did tho. my best round ever was an 89, but i havent been out in a long time. id be lucky to break 100 if i were to go out tomorrow i imagine.

Re: Any golfers around?
BEst I had my handicap down to was about a 9 or so. That was when I was playing like 3-4 times a week though. Now that I don't work at the private club any longer it's just too expensive

Re: Any golfers around?
My take on golf is I refuse to spend a lot of money on clubs until I can play well enough with a lesser set of clubs. A good set of clubs will only mask the flaws in my game. Also, you have to play enough golf to justify that kind of a purchase. I'm playing with the same clubs I've had since I started playing on a semi-regular basis.
Re: Any golfers around?
You can get a good set of used clubs on kijiji for nothing. Or even Ebay. Clubs are just a luxury. If the swing, grip, form etc isnt there, new clubs wont do much. Good mentality to have Scott.

Thats not true at all. In fact, it would most likely do the opposite if you purchase the correct set.
There are plenty of very well made golf clubs that provide a ton of forgiveness for higher handicap golfers. Just don't buy a set of players clubs (forged blades)
Re: Any golfers around?
Not gonna lie,
Best round ever: 82/71
Average: 90-95
Stopped golfing pretty much when I entered 3-4th year Uni and it's been two years since that too, but used to golf often throughout middle/highschool.
I miss it like fuck and will get back into it NEXT summer since I'm strapped for cash/liberty this year.
I have a full set of Cobra (3i-PW) and a Callaway 9 degree and Taylormade Burner 3W but it's time for a new one next season. These are all old pre year 2000 clubs
EDIT: Michelle Wie makes me very horny

Yea, they are tough. Not much forgiveness at all. but if you can hit them do they ever make a difference. The average golfer can get a custom set of clubs almost anywhere these days and they do help big time like Kyle mentioned. They analyze your swing tempo and speed to determine shaft types and flex, whether you have an open or closed face at contact, offsets grips, etc and the list goes on. For someone who has already formed a golf swing and it would eb near impossible to change, getting a custom evaluation could shave a lot of strokes off.KapG wroteCOLONShoalzie wroteCOLONMy take on golf is I refuse to spend a lot of money on clubs until I can play well enough with a lesser set of clubs. Re: Any golfers around?
I use my 1 iron routinely on par 5's and long par 4's, I find hitting a fairway wood to be incredible difficult though, I can never get the face of my club on the ball cleanly. So I just don't use them, lol.mr. bruin wroteCOLONDon't you guys that hit the short irons find that to be difficult? The short game is where you determine your scores. I agree, and to add onto that, different clubs impact different golfers, different weights, shafts, angles and grips can either harness your talents, or ruin it. No golf club is good enough to make a poor golfer mediocre, but they can make a mediocre golfer poor.KapG wroteCOLONShoalzie wroteCOLONMy take on golf is I refuse to spend a lot of money on clubs until I can play well enough with a lesser set of clubs. I liken it to purchasing the right pair of soccer cleats, getting the right fit won't mask your weaknesses, they are just shoes...But they can provide you with the comfort and confidence to play your game.
Re: Any golfers around?
FUCK! How did I miss this thread!
play golf 5 times a week rolling with a 4.3 handicap right now, bought new irons last season and they are the best irons ive ever hit...previously i rocked the Taylormade T200 irons (best irons taylormade EVER made) and was super disappointed that I had to buy new ones but picked up the Titliest AP2's and I am super happy with them. Blades are my preference for sure and these irons hit SUPER long they are really great.
Ive had Vokeys for as long as I can remember when it comes to wedges because there are simple no better, So i figured Id try out the AP2's at a demo day at my home course and love them.
Driver wise - I have the Ping K15 now, I bought the R11 when I was on a golf trip in SC and I hate it...its sitting in my locker LOL
Anyone who lives in the Southern Ontario area we should TOTALLY play golf at some point!

Re: Any golfers around?
WTF?? 4.3? My god. Not fair. Im happy as ol hell to get down around 13 at this point. Golfing once a week or even once every two weeks really doesnt help your game. Also, having a good buddy that after making two bad shots decides weed is the best answer to fix things, always goes horribly wrong for me.
Re: Any golfers around?
funny thing is I usually play better when I blaze lol.mr. bruin wroteCOLONWTF?? 4.3? My god. Not fair. Im happy as ol hell to get down around 13 at this point. Another funny thing to note. Tons of tour players blaze while playing lol.
Re: Any golfers around?
