Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Camp (Pictures/Thoughts)
Toronto Maple Leafs Prospect Camp (Pictures/Thoughts)
So I just got back from the scrimmage at the prospect camp at the Mastercard Center this morning. Took some notes and pictures with the phone..if you guys want to know more about other players, let me know and I'll see what I can remember. Game was tied after regulation. 5 minute OT didn't do anything. Mckegg (a little Kadri esqu- back hand roof job), Blacker ( Laser through Owuya's armpit), and Percy (game winner- snipe top cheese) with the shootout goals.
Olden: big, very good skater, shifty, made nice in tight passes/created notable scoring chances with his wheels. Was very impressed with him.
Blacker: very loud, leader on the ice. Loves the puck on his stick, safe/smart choices and very physical, loves the spin move. Tied the game with a minute left in the 3rd
Camaranesi: impressive skating, created lots of chances off the rush using his skating ability, outstanding lateral and agility movement
Gardiner: very composed, skater, scored a goal from the point. Very solid in his own zone, flawless with outlet passes. Probably the best player on the ice on both teams.
Everson: got worked and pushed around in his own zone, was a liability. Made some nice passes though, vision is top notch.
Nilsson: solid, quiet game. Did not look out of place..especially being the youngest player in camp
Biggs: Hit everything in sight, laid a big one on Blacker right after the whistle..created a couple of scoring chances from the corners. Awesome defensively and good on the forecheck and backcheck. Had the best scoring chances in the 3rd period.
Granberg: Looked really big on the ice. Physical and very solid/safe in his own end.
Broll: Physically imposing and has really good wheels. Very strong on the forecheck.
Acton: Showed some nice hands, very good stick handler.
Lievo: Not the fastest skater or the biggest guy. Made some hits, and seemed to always be in the right places to get scoring chances. Seems like he was always involved in the play (in a good way).
Also, wanted to say that the Brad Ross, Sondre Olden, and Josh Nicholls line was probably the best line from both teams today. Here are some pictures:

Thanks Bry.
Is there an admission fee to attend these scrimmages, or can you get in free?

Olden shocked me last prospect camp, glad to hear he hasn't lost it. Some time in the CHL will be good for him.

Nice man, thanks for the information.
If you don't mind me asking, how did Devane look?

Free and open to public. Probably about no more than 50 spectators in the rink this morning and most of those were family. Unfortunately, today was the last day of scrimmages.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONThanks Bry.

Devane looked ok. Didn't really suprise me but definitely didnt dissapoint. He played most of the game in front of the net looking for loose pucks. Talked a lot between whistles and had a couple of nice hits.KapG wroteCOLONNice man, thanks for the information.
