Rumours...
Post any if you got some...I thought id post this one because i am unsure if i like it or not.
Oilers and Bruins talking a major deal.
* TO BOS: 1st overall pick, Sheldon Souray
* TO EDM: 2nd overall, 15th overall, Blake Wheeler
That's basically Taylor Hall and Sheldon Souray for Tyler Seguin, Dylan McIlrath and Blake Wheeler.
***This is actually quite stupid but I guess its a starting point to get some stuff posted in here.

Re: Rumours...
Souray doesn't want to be there anymore and the Oilers would get three young pieces and it would still include a top 2 pick...when many are still back and forth on Seguin and Hall. I think that's a deal that works for what they're doing and that's stockpiling young talent. Wheeler gives them some more size on the wing when they're littered with smallish forwards. They won't compete next year barring a major impact from their incoming rookies but this will put them on the road to getting back in the mix very soon. These kinds of teams don't take too long to make the playoffs...maybe as soon as '11-12 will we see them back in the postseason out West.
From Boston's perspective, they'd get the guy they want at #1 and a guy that would've been replacing a guy like Wheeler in the lineup anyway and then they get a guy that would help their weak power play. They struggled scoring goals last year and if they can add Hall and a guy like Souray on defense...that area will improve. They're going to have some cap issues with another high-priced defenseman in the fold and they have potentially have a $5 million backup goalie and they were going to pay quite a bit for a rookie contract on either Hall or Seguin. I guess they're next move would be to move Thomas and get a cheaper #2 behind Rask.

Re: Rumours...
To respond to your Boston thing I don't believe that will happen here is an article I found where Boston wants to move up:
•James Murphy of NESN: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has said he’ll select either Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin with the 2nd overall pick, and he may work at getting another high pick in the draft. The Bruins also own the 15th, 32nd and 45th picks. They like Cam Fowler and Brandon Gormley, but those 2 should be selected in the 3-6 range. The Bruins could package some of their extra picks, and a prospect/player to move up and grab one of them.

Re: Rumours...
As to the rumor you seen here is more to it, I just don't see Boston taking on Souray:
•Stephen Harris of the Boston Herald: It’sbeen rumored that the Bruins favor Taylor Hall over Tyler Seguin, and if they want to ensure they get him, they could attempt to make a deal with Edmonton for the #1 overall pick. The Bruins are already deep at center, so Hall would be a better fit for them. The Oilers are in need of centerman more than they are of wingers. Chiarelli hasn’t met with Oilers GM, Steve Tambellini yet, but he plans on it. Harris wonders what it would take to move the one spot, Blake Wheeler or Tim Thomas?

For you Leaf Fans:
The Leafs may try to trade for Patrick Sharp. That is all I got no specifics.

This is more speculation than a Rumour..
Source: Alexander Svitov Planning Return to NHL
PHILADELPHIA -- Alexander Svitov is preparing for a return to the National Hockey League, a reliable source informed FanHouse on Thursday at the Stanley Cup Final.
A 6-foot-3 center, Svitov was the third overall pick in the 2001 draft. He struggled as a 20-year-old under coach John Tortorella in Tampa Bay and was traded to Columbus in 2003. In 2004-05, Svitov had 19 goals and 23 assists for 41 points plus 200 penalty minutes over 69 games with the Syracuse Crunch, the Blue Jackets' American Hockey League affiliate. The following season, he was 7-11-18 with 145 penalty minutes in 76 games with Columbus.
Born and raised in Omsk, Russia, Svitov played for his hometown team the last three seasons. His average tax-free income was said to be between the equivalent of $1.5 - 2 million a season. However, Svitov -- still just 27 years old -- wants to prove himself in the best league in the world. Although he was happy to play back home for Avangard in Omsk, Svitov and his wife are said to love North America. They are currently visiting Florida.
With his 6-3, 210-pound frame, decent hands and fighting ability (shown above), Svitov could be a valuable signing at a time when teams are looking for their version of Dustin Byfuglien. Last season he was 7-17-24 in 41 games with Omsk, fourth behind leading scorer Jaromir Jagr, who had 42 points in 51 games.
Like all free agents out of Europe, Svitov is eligible to be signed by an NHL team beginning on July 1.

Re: Rumours...
"With the Ottawa Senators’ Jason Spezza seemingly disgruntled with his lot in life in the nation’s capital, here’s how the Oilers might solve the Taylor vs. Tyler debate.
Draft winger Taylor Hall on June 25 with their No. 1 pick at the NHL entry draft, pass on centre Tyler Seguin and trade for Spezza later.
The Senators would almost assuredly take the same three players that were on the table for winger Dany Heatley last summer — Dustin Penner, Andrew Cogliano and Ladislav Smid — in exchange for Spezza, who would become the Oilers’ much-needed first-line centre."
-Jim Matheson, Edmonton Journal

Re: Rumours...
I HIGHLY doubt the Senators would be jumping at that package...Spezza is one of the most talented pivots in the game, and hasn't come out and requested a move ala Dany Heatley, he has more value on the trade market. I suspect Edmonton would have to move one of Hemsky or Gagner to facilitate such a move.

Re: Rumours...
I will blow a load if that is true. I know alot of people are hating on Drew, but with his size and skill set there is a ton of potential yet, and Kassian...Well he's just a machine.bills09 wroteCOLONMarek has Kaberle rumored for Drew Stafford+Zack Kassian
By any chance do you have a link Billy?
Re: Rumours...
Watching as much Buffalo hockey as I do I will tell you I would drop Stafford instantly he doesn't provide what was expected from him when drafted, as for Kassian, Mashley has raved about him so if he is as good as advertised I do not think it will happen with Buffalo's defensive depth the rumors have Buffalo looking for Forwards this was a rumor last summer with Stafford for Kaberle, but hey you never know with the NHL.

Marek tweeted it but heres a couple articles on the tweet.

Re: Rumours...
Well it will be interesting to watch but one thing I know from talking with Ruff and watching what Regier does that Regier is very stingy and doesn't like to give up too much.

Re: Rumours...
Burke has stated on several occasions that the toughest GM to trade with (for him personally) is Darcy Regier, the two have only once made a deal (Moore for 2nd). So you may very well be right.Topher wroteCOLONWell it will be interesting to watch but one thing I know from talking with Ruff and watching what Regier does that Regier is very stingy and doesn't like to give up too much.
