going back and forth on what this does for me w/ Heatley BBKL-wise.

on one hand he was surrounded by talent to play with in SJ.

BUT

there's only 60 minutes in a game so all that talent and ice time was spread pretty thin.

less talent overall in MIN

BUT

a line of Setoguchi - Koivu - Heatley will be relied on HEAVILY and will log huge ice time and PP time.

SJ wins for the latter 2 reasons, but I wouldn't say Havlat is more complete than Heatley. they're pretty much the same damn player w/ heater bringing a bit more grit and havlat bringing a bit more defensive awareness.

Like it for SJ. Gives them more cap flexibility to round out their roster and havlat has 2 years more in his prime than heatley.

You know what? It might be the best thing fir heater. I don't know if it's that Thornton fires that pass in alot harder than spezza but for what ever reason the chemistry wasn't there between he and Joe. I don't even begin to claim that koivu is in the same level as those two for passing ability but if this is a good fit minny now has a legit first line.

after some time to think about it. this trade makes no sense and perfect sense at the same time.

good for both teams, but didn't really seem necessary either.

i guess SJ saved a bit of cap and Minn got (i think) potentially the better player.
