as a conn smythe winner lol. I actually love how the Capitals have gone about business this offseason. They have added alot of character to their locker room and other than the ward deal, have done so with good contracts.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONIf Vokoun has a successful season with the Capitals, and I bet he will, they will resign him quickly.kyuss wroteCOLONyeah, for the peanuts i was offered?mr. bruin wroteCOLONLol, you had a window of very high value. and how high were the chances of Vokoun accepting to get 1/4 of his possible salary in this kind of FA? Caps would have stayed put otherwise..
also, Vokoun signed for only one season anyway..

I concur, they have had the best off season of any team in the East, IMO.shooker wroteCOLONas a conn smythe winner lol. I actually love how the Capitals have gone about business this offseason. Re: VOKOUN TO WASHINGTON!
Actually Mik is full of shit. I offered him Ville Leino + a 2nd Straight for Holtby at the deadline last year, only to have him decline it LOL. I have the MSN convo saved somewhere. He made the exact same mistake with Koivu.shooker wroteCOLON+1 to this. IMO the key for a rebuilding team, hell any team for that matter.mr. bruin wroteCOLONLol, you had a window of very high value. Re: VOKOUN TO WASHINGTON!
you sure about this? i could see this being one of those bogus reports you guys like to throw around.. i remember Leino being involved, and offered straight up at some point (after i got insulted in the previous months for not trading Holtby for a 3rd,lol), but tbh right now i don't remember Leino + 2nd.SuperMario wroteCOLONActually Mik is full of shit. I know your offer was the highest i've received for Holtby so far.
I think Billy only offered Bishop.
looks like you don't get it..SuperMario wroteCOLONHe made the exact same mistake with Koivu.
i didn't trade Koivu to you before because it was the only way for me to get Malkin.
In the end i did get Malkin in a Koivu deal, so i'm not sure what you are still talking about.

you overpaid for Malkin. you could have gotten a LOT more for koivu if you moved him by the deadline at his 3.2M cap hit last year.kyuss wroteCOLONyou sure about this? i could see this being one of those bogus reports you guys like to throw around.. i remember Leino being involved, and offered straight up at some point (after i got insulted in the previous months for not trading Holtby for a 3rd,lol), but tbh right now i don't remember Leino + 2nd.SuperMario wroteCOLONActually Mik is full of shit. and my offer of Leino + 2nd for Holtby is the truth. you say i only offered Leino for Holtby straight. but even if that is the case, i'd like to see you land anything more than a 2nd rounder for Holtby now.
you've made two critical errors as the GM of the preds. your team could have about 2 more SOLID assets if you hadn't made those mistakes.

as for Malkin, i felt i was in a position to overpay for the better player. And since i think Mikko is a bit overrated it was an overpayment i was fine with, especially having to cut the roster.
Also, it is funny how you keep on bringing up the Malkin overpayment after your antics during negotiation about how much of a good deal i was getting from you.. lol, what a shameless clown.
that's what i remember.and my offer of Leino + 2nd for Holtby is the truth. you say i only offered Leino for Holtby straight. but even if that is the case, i'd like to see you land anything more than a 2nd rounder for Holtby now.
and for some reasons you seem to think i have to sell him, lol.
Breaking news for you: unlike you, i don't feel like i have to sell every player that lands on my team.. i still like Holtby as i did a couple of days ago, and if a 2nd is what would be coming back to me, i have no problems keeping him.
i'm not sure how to make you realize about it, but your opinion doesn't mean that's true.you've made two critical errors as the GM of the preds. your team could have about 2 more SOLID assets if you hadn't made those mistakes.
2 critical errors, lmao.. what i remember after my critical error #1 of not selling Mikko last year was you telling that no one would have had any interest in Mikko anymore under his new ridiculous contract..
guess who was asking for him the day after such contract kicked in?
oh, the irony

Re: VOKOUN TO WASHINGTON!
mik lol i find it amazing that you twist the truth to make yourself feel better.
I'm pretty certain every gm in this league asked you about Koivu WELL before he got injured. you fucked up that play for sure. you could have gotten more assets and still gotten Malkin with profit left over from what you traded Koivu for. The overpayment for Malkin is not only the overpayment but the Opportunity Cost of what you lost on those other deals.
as far as Holtby is concerned, I'm sure you'll have to keep him. but it is a definite error to not trade him when you had the chance. He really is worthless now. Goalie prospects are the most fragile in value. They can skyrocket and plummet instantly. Holtby's stock did just that last year when both Varly and Neuvy were injured. You made the mistake of getting attached and not getting value then, and now his stock has plummeted because of trades/FA signings. How many chances do you think you as a GM will get to turn Holtby alone into a 50 point skater who is 27?

eventually, i got Malkin (and a 2nd 2012) for Smithson, Gleason and Hecht.
guess what, I'm quite fine with it; i'm not sure why i should feel the need to twist the truth..
hey, whatever you're talking about, it looks like i don't feel interested enough to make the effort needed to get it.. because i don't.

i am sure Billy should feel guilty for not trading Neuvirth before the Vokoun signing..

you know, i don't spend all my time trying to deal away players i like.
If when a bad break happens the terrible result is i still have the player i like instead of a 50 point skater, i really don't see the problem or fault with that.
