Re: Dallas-Detroit
as the gm of Dallas I m extremlly happy to accept this deal. as a GM I'm a big big fan of Lidstrom and I know he can still play for 3 more years and Dumont is just a great leader as Lidsrtom.
We can now name Lidstrom our Captain and Dumont our Assistant Captain since there both great leader.
I am sad to lose Tallinder and Betts but I felt I needed to do this deal.

Re: Dallas-Detroit
This was definitely a function over form deal for me. I've added plenty of goal scoring today so Dumont was expendable. Lidstrom was a guy I've gone back and forth with. He could play more and be very productive but I'd rather get a guy I know who will play next year. I'm fine with a conditional pick if he retires. The good thing was that I moved a lot of salary to allow me to make moves at some guys with higher salaries.
In total the last two days, I've added...
Dustin Penner
Jussi Jokinen
Eric Godard
Cam Janssen
John Madden
Blair Betts
Douglas Murray
Henrik Tallinder
Been a busy guy but I like the direction my team is going. A couple more moves to fill holes and I'll be ready to go at this year.

Re: Dallas-Detroit
I'm bumping this thread just to report that Nicklas Lidstrom has decided to play another season and signed a new deal for next season. There will be no exchange of a conditional draft pick.

Duh...I wouldn't have traded Nick if he was going to come back for sure.
Believe me, I would've kept him and would've had no reason to go after Campbell and saved me a million bones. I admit, this didn't turn out well for me but it was about getting something for Nick without knowing for sure what was going to happen to him. It was a bit of a panic move. No worries in trading Dumont though...I replaced him and then some.

I just edited my reply but yeah, I acknowledge it was an impulsive move.
What's funny is that I've got Blake in the same position but I've chose to keep him rather than sell him for a sammich and a song. I'm taking a risk but then again, I did the same with Nick. As a Wings fan, I'm pleasantly surprised to see him return. I'm not all that bothered by this news.
