I agree that he was struggling in the playoffs... but liked some flashes during the regular season.

They clearly do not suck...I'm not sure how you can even argue that. There are very few defense prospects who have produced as much as either Blum or Smith, and at such a young age. You may not like them in comparison to other young defense prospects, but to remark that they suck is indefensible, and without merit.

I agree that he was struggling in the playoffs... but liked some flashes during the regular season.
He played a combined 23 games in the NHL, prior to squaring off against two of the better offensive clubs in the Western Conference Playoffs (Anaheim & Vancouver). It should come as no surprise that he struggled, for me personally the mere fact that he was entrusted to play in the playoffs with such little pro experience is a pro, not a con.

I only let Chouinard go since I want to keep Evgeny Grachev and since my D corp is solid compare to my foward crops.
But I still believe Chouinard will have a better career then Grachev. But I needed foward then a D. Either way I love getting Smith for the Future.
If I'm wrong then this is the sacrafice I need to do to try and get the best team together.

it doesn't matter frank. you have the self proclaimed best draft list this year so it should take care of all your short comings right? Or was all that bragging I just painfully listened to for the last 10 minutes just hot air?

lol you guys take everything way too seriously. Obviously Blum and Smith don't suck. I'm just not a huge fan of either.

Difference between, honesty, sarcasm, joking, chit-chat and serious are hard to 'feel' through the written word, even worse on the computer screen. Sometimes asking if someone was serious or joking is taken as rude...and in the BBKL you definitely cannot ask for clarifications.


I'm with you Shep, neither are likely to be top pairing guys. However I like Blum as a waiver exempt guy that could be worth dressing on occasion next year.

Haha yeah man I know. It's all about the tone fo voice, and without that it's impossible to tell online.

Blum will certainly be good enough if even for 20-30pts and some respectable periphs this year at least.

Tough to make this deal when Blum is in the NHL imo. Scott got Blum fairly cheap, from what I was expecting (I never really got in trade talks). Though it may be more that Frank loves Smith as opposed to anything else.

Like I said before, I have enough D to not worry about anything this year. But I made the deal since I feel that Smith have a better chance of becoming a top D.
I simply don't see Blum ever being more then a 4th D on Nashville. It will all depend on if Nashville sign Wedber or not.

The funny thing is that you proclaimed that Bry and bcool had the best Draft. The thing at the time I wasn't sure is who the hell was bcool. Sorry bro (colorado) to forgot your user name but then you think you had one of the best draft. The thing I believe I got from the deal is a future Top D. I also don't think Blum will ever be more then a 4th D and at the moment I don't see him more then a 5,6th D and possibly playing on the 2nd Powerplay unit. I know everyone will argue that Smith won't play big minutes until next year but think of this way I'm simply thinking 1 year ahead. I could of done alot of stuff differently but this ain't one.
