Pascal Dupuis

Post by Shoalzie »

I'm just going to go at this offseason dangling a player at a time to see what's out there since I learned last year how long this offseason really is. I don't have a lot to offer (that I'm willing to give up) to add a top flight piece but instead I'll have to start off piecing my team together one brick at a time.

Dupuis is probably one of the few attractive NHLers on my roster. He's not all the old...just turned 32. The Penguins are probably going with a younger team next year so he's not in their plans but should definitely find a landing spot in free agency. He had a cap hit of $1.4 million...should be able to get a couple million on the open market as a solid second or third line winger. He's durable...played 81 games each of the last two years. He's put up around 38 and 37 points the last two seasons. He's got a lot of value with his SHTOI...over 195 minutes this year (26th among all forwards). To break this down more...Dupuis is only one of 3 guys out of that 26 to have as many shots on goal (171) and hits (117). Those other two players are Darren Helm and Ryan Kesler. Also, he was a +16 and put up 59 PIMs. He's a quality head-to-head player on the wing and I'd expect that kind of value in return.

I'm looking for long term solutions in return...NHL-ready prospects or young players and/or picks. My top pick available is my 3rd round pick (62nd overall). A combo of Dupuis and that pick is a possibility...I'm all ears for what you guys may have in mind. The sleeves are rolled up and I'm ready to do some business. Let's talk!

I've received mild interest so far. I've got one offer I'm intrigued by but I'm not going to take it without hearing more offers from the rest of you. It includes an NHL-ready (or near ready) rookie and a decent draft pick. I can understand any hesitation from doing something before July 1 when you where he signs and for what amount. I may wait until free agency to know what kind of value he has and get back with those teams that have reached out to me. Gone are the days of getting cold offers from teams and jumping at them without looking into alternative options or just saying no. There's no sense into rushing deals when we've got nothing but free time on our hands. There's not been enough activity to warrant making a deal before two weeks from today when free agency starts.

(My long-winded way of saying BUMP ;) )

I guess I just don't see the point of moving a waiver exempt, rookie-esq, forward with similar or even greater potential.

He seems like a good value guy for a team w/o big name pieces... As in yours.

Where's on the Knights team he's better then 2 maybe 3 guys.. Wouldn't make bry's avs and a fringe guy on shiv's penguins.

I guess he'd fill a hole for Kareem and mate a few other top end teams who spent their assets but have some lineup gaps... But really as you outlined he's a better player then his BBKL value represents, seems like a guy to keep in your situation.

My way of bumping.
