IMO winner of this deal depends on Richards contract - team - etc.

I know a new team doesn't change the player Richards is, but if the cap is lower then expected & perhaps he finds instant chemistry with Kessel or Gaborik or Vanek (etc.) he could have a good year coming.

I'm with Nick...I reserve judgment on Richards' value until he signs with someone.

It seems like he's been playing forever but he's only 31...that's not ancient he's in that group with guys like Marleau. When they start playing at a young age (18 or 19), by the time they reach 30, it feels like they've been around for much longer. He finished with two really strong years in Dallas...better than a PPG. In fact, he was a PPG guy his entire time in Dallas. For him being a high assist guy, he shoots a ton...250-275 shots a year easy. A big knock against him is the fact he's a -72 for his career.

Nice deal...I love Koivu just like the next guy, but I think he is a tad overrated here. I agree with Nick, that this will come down to how much and where Richards signs, although I can almost guarantee it will be for a boat load..

im expecting a vinny type deal high 7's with term. I was dreaming before when I was hoping for 6.5 or 7 I just dont see it happeing the more I read up. Mikko might be a bit overrated here but imo most underrated number 1 center in the NHL in real life.

I agree, Richards gets 7+. From Bry's standpoint he gets the better H2H player. From my standpoint I get 2 1st round Picks for a small downgrade <--this downgrade is really only in shtoi, some fow and salary. Richards wins all offensive categories. I'll take it.
