My attempts to trick the system into youtube embedding a TSN video did not work, so http://watch.tsn.ca/featured/clip466646#clip466646.

Intense to say the least. Most highlight-worthy goal I've seen since B.Ryan danced about.

Bryan isn't sharing a myth, telling a tale or spinning a story; he really was thinking of an offer for Granlund the past 2 days. Then this happened.

granlund usually isnt the showboat type, he just has the skill to do it. I actually have zero issues with this goal and dont feel its showboating. It was a 0-0 game, if this was a 5-0 game then it would be extreme. 0-0 anything goes imo

Still painting a target on your back when you pull non-traditional-hockey moves like that

holy fuck. the only reason i'd say its not goal of the year is the lack of tight checking in these games compared to the nhl. but holy fuck it takes talent, creativity and execution at the right time to pull that off.

greatest goal? definitely no

great goal? sure

although he had impeccable timing and he pulled off that move on the go with almost no time, i dont think it's quite enough to be the greatest

I hate when people say this. It really hasn't been done before. Both Crosby and Legg had time to stop and set this goal up. Granlund did it mid-stride, without stopping or skipping a beat. That's why this goal is better than the other two.

Although I agree with you entirely, your missing 1 Shep... it was done nearly identical to Granlund's. Once. Iirc it was in the NCAA as well.

And not anywhere near the competition present at the WCs.

I believe it's incorrect to call this goal "played out", when will to be done in the SHOW? What about calling a high-stick if the point of contact with the puck rises above the cross-bar versus the high stick above the shoulder allowed in non-goal plays. What if the player has the puck between the cross-bar and his shoulder, but lowers it to 'throw' it into the net to below cross bar heights, is this les git?

If he's got the puck on his stick above the crossbar, play gets blown down for a high stick.
