Jack Adams Favourite
Anyone more deserving than Barry Trotz? I think he's the hands down winner.

I agree! Top 3 coach in hockey, period.SuperMario wroteCOLONAnyone more deserving than Barry Trotz? I think he's the hands down winner.
Re: Jack Adams Favourite
Barry Trotz has deserved in like 4 of the past 5 seasons.
Just like Pekka Rinne deserves the Vezina and the Hart this year.
Take Rinne off that team and they finish bottom 3 in the West.

If someone else wins it this year over Trotz, the NHL should just fold that award up.

LouLam with the biggest empirical difference on a team ever.
Dan lost every big forward name on his team for HUGE portions of the season, still a home-ice playoff seat.
Trotz did the same thing he's done several time, kept a fringe playoff team, in the playoffs.
Mr.Canuck took a team to the top of the league -> can never ignore the #1 team.
Why should the award be folded up if one of these other coaches win? Sure Trotz is consistently a top end coach, just because he's always in the top few doesn't mean he was ever the single best coach (in a given season).

Lou won't win. If awards were given out for half a season Reimer would win the Calder and Niemi the Vezina.facey wroteCOLONSuperMario wroteCOLONIf someone else wins it this year over Trotz, the NHL should just fold that award up.

Bylsma maybe.
Alain is a faggot.
Trotz wins.

A lineup of Staal, Neal, Letang, Fleury + all the other solid players Pittsburgh is STILL better than Nashville fully healthy -> Weber, Rinne then bunch of interchangeable players. Not to mention Bylsma had Crosby on a tear through till December. Having Crosby for half a season beats not having Crosby (I know amazing logic)facey wroteCOLONSuperMario wroteCOLONIf someone else wins it this year over Trotz, the NHL should just fold that award up.

Canucks' success has far more to do with the players than with Alain. Daniel Sedin back in the line up, Kesler having the best season of his career. Malhotra till he got injured. The additions on the Blue line. Having Luongo rest up with Schneider taking playing time.
Trotz did what he does every year and he should have won the Jack Adams ONCE by now already. Their highest goal scorer is Kostitsyn with 22. Their highest point getter is Erat with 50. Yet the Predators sit ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks (Toews, Sharp, Kane, Keith, Hossa) and the Anaheim Ducks (Perry, Lubo, Fowler, Getzlaf, Selanne, Hiller). Those are just two teams. Several other teams are below them with far more talent.
Lemaire btw is the current Devils coach not Lou lol, though half the season doesn't count for shit.
Re: Jack Adams Favourite
Unfortunately, when writers don't want to think too much about who to give the award to they just give it to the best team. AV doesn't deserve it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got it just cause the writers are idiots.
Trotz has deserved it for the last few years, if he wins this year good for him. Its between him and Blysma to be honest, Dan may get the nod just because of the controversy hes faced in losing two of his best players and he was without Staal for a lot of the season too. Trotz just consistently has an undermanned team, people pay attention to that less. Plus hes in the west, plays half his games past peoples bedtimes. Unfortunate truths.

And I respectfully disagree, IMO Dan Bylsma did the most impressive coaching job this season. Over the past few years, the penguins have switched T6 wingers like I change my underpants -> almost daily . Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby are the only consistent pieces in their offensive game plan, and pretty much every other piece is replaceable, with the only exceptions being Jordan Staal & Marc-Andre Fleury (perhaps now Neal). Staal who is playing no where near top form and also missed half the season, MAF who has been very very good, but we're not talking Price/-Rinne/Thomas/Hiller/Lundqvist type stuff.
IIRC the penguins were missing Malkin on & off up until January, when they lost Crosby, and then Geno for the remainder of the season soon after, but in their absence, and way before adding Neal, Pittsburgh went 21-12-6 and actually moved up the standings.
The reason I give a nod to Alain is that similar to the Penguins (1) & Predators (3), the Canucks had the second most man-games lost to injury among playoff teams this season.
I'm not calling this an easy call -> But I seriously think Dan Bylsma had to do the most coaching and adjustment to keep his team among the best in t entire league -->>> without the players his roster is built around.
Regardless of which coach you favour, to suggest there is no other option, or that the award is a farce if your guy doesn't win, well, that's just childish.

My opinion is that Babcock or Tippet should win, but it's rare that the best coaches ever win the award. More often than not, it is the coach who overcame the most adversity to accomplish a playoff berth.
