Welcome man. I'm sorta new too, and I suckx0rs so we'll make sum trades later on
Re: New GM in Dallas!
I guess it gets settled after the playoffs, however I still think Someone needs to clear this debacle up a bit...kyuss wroteCOLONi think detroit didn't have its 1st at the start of the season, so no reason for shoa to tank.. it's not like he won't meet the GP minimum because he was trying to tank.. and i still can't see why who acquired his pick should pay because of shoa's shortcomings, i think shoa should get his 1st available pick penalized instead; otherwise why should teams that traded their firsts care about meeting GP minimums? not sure how that's supposed to work though, maybe along with detroit's 1st shoa's pick/s are already expected be penalized as well?mr. bruin wroteCOLONNo, that would mean that pick is being rewarded for finishing in a certain position while not following the rules. If team A trades there pick and tanks but doesnt meet GP requirement, why should that pick still be a top pick while another team tanked fairly and legitimately?kyuss wroteCOLONmmh... if detroit doesn't meet GP requirements who holds detroit's pick gets penalized for that?KapG wroteCOLONconsidering that pick is gonna lose a spot because of GP (no chance Detroit hits the GP number) that picked isn't necessarily going to be a 2nd overall. It could very well be a 3rd.anton wroteCOLONryan didn't last long...?
welcome aboard - first and second overall this year is not a bad situation to walk into at all. good luck.
however, we gotta work on that username. there is no way im calling you "214"
doesn't make sense to me, i though GP penalizations were applied only to picks still possessed by the offending team..?
man, this stuff about that pick always leaves me dazed and confused (cit.)PLus if it gets bounced a spot in the lottery it could go to 4th (with it bouncing a spot because of GP) and that would mean I retain the pick.
Not to mention he still has to ship out assets to acquire a top 15 pick this year and a 2nd rounder if he wants to keep the detroit pick. It's not as simple and easy as you make it out to be.
I was under the assumption that the Detroit pick would be penalized if the team did not meet GP requirements. And if it gets penalized my chances of keeping that pick become better...as the pick would only need to fall one spot in the draft instead of falling two to fall outside of the top 3...

Kyle, what you think is correct

Well, I was under the impression that no matter who the owner is of the pick, that pick is penalized for the team it comes from if meeting requirements fails. It shouldn't matter the intentions or if the pick was traded away. The team failed to meet GP requirements. The pick is being given a higher ranking or order by an illegal means. The ownership should not come into consideration. That is a risk every team trading for picks takes. Of course the gm of the team failing to meet requirements gets penalized but so does the pick. Why should someone be rewarded with a higher pick, regardless of how many times it has been traded, when that higher pick was attained by not meeting league rules?
That is my take on it anyway...pretty easy and not really debatable.
For example, i will use a yahoo keeper to get my point across.
We have a league with 10 teams. My team(Team A) trades for Team X's 1st rd pick at the beginning of year. Next day i trade that pick to Team B. The season comes to end with Team X finishing last and it was determined that Team X had his players benched for near half of the season. So why should Team B be rewarded with a 1st overall pick because they owned that pick(Team X)? The only reason that pick finished so high was because the team that originally owned it, never competed fairly. To me the same situation applies to our league with regards to games played rule.

I'm just gonna make life easy and wait till the lotto happens and someone tells me what I have haha
Re: New GM in Dallas!
It's simple really. If that pick is a top 3 pick after the lottery you owe the Rangers a top 15 pick in this years draft and a 2nd rounder. If you cannot meet those requirements, Kyle (kapG) keeps the pick. Done and done.214_Stars wroteCOLONI'm just gonna make life easy and wait till the lotto happens and someone tells me what I have haha

Re: New GM in Dallas!
so....what you're saying is.....if DET misses GP, the pick drops and the CAR pick could become 2nd overall...?
