Leafs trade Beachemin
Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
a) love the trade
b) impressed by the return, Lupul's career is not over
c) Which Duck Dman is most effected by this? At first I was worried it might effect Fowler, however after thinking about it I believe Lubo and him will be the least effected. Lydman, Sutton, Mara, Lilja & Sbisa ....expected pairings?

Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
My guess is it will be Lilya and Sutton affected most. Yay for me...
Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
some Ducks fans think it will be like this, which looks pretty damn good to me!
Lubo-Lydman
Fowler-Beauch
Sutton-Sbisa

I couldn't care any less about Lupul.
Gardiner makes the trade for me though.

Jake is nice no doubt... but this is like saying Aulie made the Phaneuf trade for you -> LOL. The proven NHLer who fits our organizational needs and is still young himself is > a reasonable prospect.

Have to hand it to Burke he killed the deal. Lupul is a legit top 6 threat, plus a 2008 1st rounder plus a 4th round pick. Hate to say it but well done BB.

Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
I like the trade too but I have a question for everyone here: given the option between this and the wolski trade, which would you have taken?
Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
That depends on Jake Gardiner.... but remember Lupul is much more physical, and has multiple 20+ goal seasons including a high of 28, Wolski although bigger (?) is very soft and has maxed out at 22, and is barely scoring despite being healthy (Lupul's excuse).SuperMario wroteCOLONI like the trade too but I have a question for everyone here: given the option between this and the wolski trade, which would you have taken?

I get what you are saying. However, I don't value Lupul much at all and had we not received Gardiner in this trade, I can't say I would have liked it. It's not like Lupul is going to have a significant impact on this team IMO.

This trade. Wolski is so soft its not even funny. No room for any more vaginas in our top 6.
EDIT. facey covered most of the points hehe.

Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
Gardiner is more than a "reasonable prospect", I have been after him in this league forever (just ask Ryan), elite skating ability, good size, strong offensive vision and shot, and defensive ability to boot. He has top pairing potential, I definitely view him as the prime piece in this deal, and all reports indicate that he was in fact the main piece of the deal. That said, I believe Lupul can add alot to this team, and he is still young enough that he can improve yet.facey wroteCOLONJake is nice no doubt... but this is like saying Aulie made the Phaneuf trade for you -> LOL. Kareem, I can't understand what you are saying. Take kessels dick out of your mouth when you speak.
I guess I was an idiot when I said kulemin was a capable top 6 player on the leafs. Guess I was an idiot when I said Grabo was too. (this was at the end of last season.)
Go back to watching soccer.

His own coach in NCAA doesn't believe so... ditto on whoever the TSN -insider scouts are.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONGardiner is more than a "reasonable prospect", I have been after him in this league forever (just ask Ryan), elite skating ability, good size, strong offensive vision and shot, and defensive ability to boot. His own coach doesn't believe he is a top pairing player...Yeah, I highly doubt that, and I have heard at least 7 insiders this morning alone that claim Gardiner was the center piece, including a scout and play by play announcer from ANA.facey wroteCOLONHis own coach in NCAA doesn't believe so... ditto on whoever the TSN -insider scouts are.MSP4LYFE wroteCOLONGardiner is more than a "reasonable prospect", I have been after him in this league forever (just ask Ryan), elite skating ability, good size, strong offensive vision and shot, and defensive ability to boot. Re: Leafs trade Beachemin
Eaves [his coach] said he doesn't project Gardiner as a first-unit power play quarterback or shooter in the NHL, but added he could easily see him as a second power play unit shooter.
If he makes it (as an NHLer), I think he'll be a top four defenceman because of his skating ability and his first pass.

He is ppg in his second year in college hockey...When did his coach make these comments, out of curiosity?facey wroteCOLONEaves [his coach] said he doesn't project Gardiner as a first-unit power play quarterback or shooter in the NHL, but added he could easily see him as a second power play unit shooter. If he makes it (as an NHLer), I think he'll be a top four defenceman because of his skating ability and his first pass.
