Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
the deal looks stupid for me on paper but i have 3 main justifications
1. i need gp and salary
2. i have an abundance of early picks (3 1sts, 3 2nds)
3. the likelihood of a 3rd rounder making the nhl is slim. at least colton is already there and plays every night.

completely agree. im just hoping a find a player like mckegg in the round, which is not that unlikely at pick 64 imo.anton wroteCOLONthe likelihood of a 3rd rounder making the nhl is slim. at least colton is already there and plays every night.

How is this a bad deal for CHI?
Orr is a PIM beast. A roster player is invaluable. Ask anybody that is crippled by injuries. If we could grab a category stud for a 3rd rounder we'd love it.

My philosophy will always be NHLers >>>>>>>> draft picks. More than 200 players drafted every year and most of them will never see a lick of NHL ice-time. Outside of lottery picks I really put no value on the draft in fantasy hockey because the type of player you'll get in the 2nd/3rd/4th round and beyond can easily be traded for in the future. (That is unless you get really lucky and pull that diamond from the rough.)
Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
The draft holds high value. Once that pick is used, the prospect holds less value and is traded for less than what you would have traded the pick for.Ryan wroteCOLONMy philosophy will always be NHLers >>>>>>>> draft picks. It's true.. people just want to pick.. it's quite pathetic really lolRyan wroteCOLONYeah for people who don't think rationally. lolSnipeshow wroteCOLONThe draft holds high value. Give me a developing/developed prospect over a pick all day long!

Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
so essentially what you all are saying is that i lost haha. im fine with this trade though .
Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
This league is bonkers when it comes to the value of picks... A proven roster player of any skill level that has a guaranteed position is way way way greater than a 3rd round pick. I like this for Anton all the way. He was expendable for Shiv so it doesnt matter but i know i regret some of my earlier dealings of roster players. I gave Steve Shawn Thornton for a 5th round pick. That still burns me.
Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
And when I had my original team I grabbed Jussi Jokienen and Dave Steckl both for 4th and 5th round picks. Easy pickings.mr. bruin wroteCOLONThis league is bonkers when it comes to the value of picks... With that said.. I'll give you 1st and 2nd overall this year for Kesler.

Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
I agree with what everyone is saying about roster guyys and for that reason the trade makes complete sense from antons perspective. But ill take 63rd overall over a player like orr any day of the week. Orr has already reached his ceiling. He has no chance of cracking a contenders active roster. The players you guys are mentioning are not all like that.
Re: CHI/PIT - I overpay for GPs and Salary
This year's draft is shit. That pick has even less of an opportunity to make an impact. Good luck though..SuperMario wroteCOLONI agree with what everyone is saying about roster guyys and for that reason the trade makes complete sense from antons perspective. In hindsight, the best player from the 2011 draft will be somewhere in rounds 3-7.

No, Tarasenko was drafted 16th overall.facey wroteCOLONIn hindsight, the best player from the 2011 draft will be somewhere in rounds 3-7.
