Re: Trade: DAL-DET
I got a few decent offers for Dunn but Will had the combination of picks and young defensemen to make this happen. This entire deal is mix of a previous offer involving Josh Brown and folding that into a larger deal to include Dunn.
I'm a fan of Del Mastro and the Blackhawks are going to need all the help they can get with their defense prospects. Plus, I'm able to re-acquire my 2nd round pick which will be in the top 40 of this draft. This checks the boxes of what I'm trying to do for the long-term.
I'm not sure of the ceiling for Dunn but the problem with him is his salary will only go up this summer and is he going to match or surpass this season's numbers? If I was going to sell him, the time was this season.

Re: Trade: DAL-DET
Will absolutely wins this deal right now. He's going to have a rough offseason with Thomas and Kyrou having the extensions kick in. Dunn is going to get a raise from the Kraken I'd imagine.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well Josh Brown played when he got a gig playing regularly...albeit for the lowly Coyotes.
Considering how poor my prospect pool is on defense, Del Mastro is a nice addition to my group. It's good to move up in the 2nd round...having my own pick back is an obvious bonus.

Take the 2nd ANA out and I think this is probably fair.
The two 2nd rounders could end up being similar prospects and shine has wore off Fabbro where he is only playing 16 min a night.

Re: Trade: DAL-DET
Swapping picks was something I was debating over but it's a very large jump in positions. The value in moving up in the 2nd round is a lot different than moving up in the 4th or 6th round. Matthew will be a team I'd imagine will make another long run in the playoffs so we're talking about going from the end of the round up to my spot which is basically top 7. I go from picking in the early 60s to being the late 30s. I'm hopefully getting what amounts to a late 1st round value with my pick similar to what got with my Owen Beck pick this past year.
I don't have the volume of picks I'd like to have so I was more concerned improving the position. I spent some picks to fortify my roster. I want to find two impact prospects with my 1st and 2nd rounders this spring. The 3rd round pick can be a spot where you can find someone or use the pick to move around in the middle of the draft.

Nice trade. Gotta like the proven thing with Dunn but not a terrible return.
If anyone is interested similar type deal for Montour could be had.

The funny thing with Montour...I actually hoped you could find a taker on him first so I could use that as a template for a deal. Granted, I'm leaning more into futures here.
I think you can get a really good return on Montour...I'd conisder him statisically better than Dunn and he's still got a year left on his current contract (and has the lower cap hit than Dunn). Being 28 to Dunn being 26...that shouldn't be a huge factor. He's playing big minutes like Dunn is with Seattle. Dunn has a great +/-. Adam Larsson is also have a strong season for the Kraken on that top pair.

Yessir. Having a great year. And that’s with Ekblad playing most games. Promising for the future!Shoalzie wroteCOLON ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 11:31 am The funny thing with Montour...I actually hoped you could find a taker on him first so I could use that as a template for a deal.
