Yeah I was definitely thinking he's the next makar tooTheNudge wroteCOLONSorry about the incorrect spelling of his name. Happy he’s available!! He went from getting drafted at 5 feet 10 154 pounds to 6 feet and 210 pounds. He’s a very good D with limited Offensive that we’ve seen but he believes he has alot more to give offensively and playes a similar game to Makar. Wil see if it can translate into a long career in the nhl.Shoalzie wroteCOLONTheNudge wroteCOLONCan anyone comfirm if my pick of Daniil Sobolov is valid ? I did use the search and didn’t find him.
You posted him as Sobolev (the correct spelling) and yes, he's a valid draft pick.

Never I thought he would be the next makar. I did read a scouting report that he was saying how his favourite player to watch is makar. Here’s quotes from himMatthew wroteCOLONYeah I was definitely thinking he's the next makar tooTheNudge wroteCOLONSorry about the incorrect spelling of his name. Happy he’s available!! That description is what made his media availability so interesting. In one breath, he said his favourite player to watch is Cale Makar. When asked about the differences between his stat line and Makar’s game, his answer — through a translator — was very interesting.
He said that defencemen in Russia are not encouraged, or even allowed, to play offensively. It is part of why he made the decision to play in the Ontario Hockey League, and why he declined to play in Russia even though he had the option to this past season.
I just think he’s become a reliable top 4 D with potential of playing on PK and even on the PP if he can improve his offense game.
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Sorry, am I missing something? Are you guys talking about the guy that was just taken by NYI? I looked him up. What about him says he'll be anything like Makar?

Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
And yet he didn't score in the OHL. Maybe it wasn't Russia suppressing his offensive upside
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Nice pick Dallas
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
To be frank with you guy’s I didn’t draft him thinking he’ll become a Makar lite which would be crazy to think. But I do think he’ll make Habs sooner rather then later. Here’s what I hope; he plays a few games this year after playing well in the AHL. Then becoming a fultime nhler the following season. Another part of his games gives you a better picture into his game is his +/-. Being +25 while only contributing 2g-15a = 17 in 62 games make you think how solid he his in his end.
Here’s the top 5 +/-
1) Wyatt Johnston - 68 gp - 46g-78a - + 29
2) Michael Renwick - 67gp - 11g - 18a - + 28
3) Matthew Maggio - 66gp - 38g - 47a - + 28
4) Daniil Sobolev - 62gp - 2g - 15a - + 25
5) Will Cuylle - 59gp - 43g-37 - + 22
On a side note I think we have talk enough about this Makar lite.

Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Won't even be Makar light. Most guys taken at this point of the draft are darts. We've had guys that some GMs think they are getting a steal and then se other kid that everyone passes over goes in the top of the 2nd round and 3nds up being the best player outside of the 1st round. You never know with this shit.
That being said, all of my dmen of taken will become Makar lites.

Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Oh Lord. The whole +/- debate
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Oh i know it’s makar light and not Makar lite but fuck it I’ll do it my way. Could careless if it’s wrong, gl with your player’s @ Seattle. You’ll need it !!
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Buchelnikov already owned, pretty sure.
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
Casper, your pick at 184 is illegal. I own Buchelnikov.
Re: 2022 Draft Discussion
I like the scouting reports I've read on the guys I've drafted.
Also, there's no way Buchelnikov would have gotten this far.

Habs D pipeline is too deep.
