This move has been questioned by a few people that I've talked to...which I can understand...but my biggest thing is to get a good young player that is closer to making the NHL when I'm trying to make a climb out of the abyss...I don't want to be this bad forever. Nyquist has a lot of talent and I'm excited about we'll bring to the actual Red Wings when makes it to the next level but all you have to look at is guys like Kindl, Abdelkader and Howard...and now Mursak...the Wings aren't very quick to advance young players unless they're off-the-charts as rookies. Zetterberg and Datsyuk were exceptions to the rule. Calvert is a talented offensive forward with an organization that needs to continue producing quality young talent and he's leading their AHL team in scoring. At worst, I'd picture him in the NHL next year. Nyquist...I don't think he's a Red Wing for two years at least. I'm investing in a player that can help me sooner rather than later.
