Congrats Matthew, less and less easy to come out of the Western Conference. Good luck in the final.
My skaters just didn't bring it this week, which particularly sucks considering the numbers my goalies had, big opportunity wasted.
As usual, looking forward to next year lol

This format is fascinating and frustrating...Mik had a tremendous week last week and then he had a pretty good week this week with great goaltending but his opponent and the other two semifinalists had him beat in the major offensive categories. Hate to say it but sometimes you need a little luck and good fortune because everyone who makes it this far have really good rosters. Nothing is a guarantee.

Excited for this rematch...it was a really good finals last year.
Re: GDT - Playoff Round 3 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
Good matchup, Mik. You had me on the ropes at the beginning of the matchup. Given how close a couple categories ended up, either of us dressing a few different guys probably could have changed the results, but alas, I win, and it's back to the drawing board for you, and to the finals again for the two time western conference champion. I'm coming for you, bruyns.

...and the Rangers goalies got their third straight shutout last night.
Looks like you hitched your wagons to a very good goaltending situation...it's one less thing to worry about with your roster. Honestly, you've got a team that can win. They just need to deliver for you. If you keep a strong group of skaters together to go with the Rangers goalie tandem...you're a definite contender.

Re: GDT - Playoff Round 3 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
and I didn't even had any Tuesday's injury this time around.
I couldn't win with this team with that goaltending and without injuries playing a role.. hard to see a better opportunity in the future.
So in the future I'll just have to win with worse odds than I had this year
I mean, Matthew is in the final, led by goal-scoring machine Jordan Staal...

Re: GDT - Playoff Round 3 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
That's the thing with goaltending in our format...they can't win you a matchup on their own but they can be a difference maker in a close matchup. They just don't touch as many categories as a skater. You just need to have competitive goaltending that will give you a shot at those categories every week so you don't have to win more skater categories. If you're carrying one of the 5 worst starters on your team...you basically have to have a killer group of skaters.
Re: GDT - Playoff Round 3 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
You still have the most assets and by far the most valuable franchise. Any year you decide to cash in prospects to go for it is the better opportunity.kyuss wroteCOLONand I didn't even had any Tuesday's injury this time around.

I'm afraid not. Staal was injured by the tank cale makar in his final game of our matchup.kyuss wroteCOLON I mean, Matthew is in the final, led by goal-scoring machine Jordan Staal...

Re: GDT - Playoff Round 3 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
I don't think there was much margin for further improvement on my team this year, given that we have a salary cap for the playoffs as well, unlike in the NHL.Bruyns wroteCOLONYou still have the most assets and by far the most valuable franchise. Cashing in prospects for marginal improvement makes no sense to me in a format where the team could still lose in any Western conference round

Re: GDT - Playoff Round 3 (Road to the BBKL Cup)
As long as certain guys are on sliding contracts or they're waiver exempt...there's no real need to push guys out the door unless you want to do that. To me, that's the ideal situation...always have a few young players you can call up if you have an injury and when your lineup is healthy...you don't have to play them if they're not going to help contribute. Don't pay the inflated prices on the trade market when you can address your own lineup needs.
I think most of your trades revolve around the salary cap or just having too many signed players. There's mechanisms in our league that limits who you can keep on roster year over year. You've got a tremendous amount of picks in the upcoming draft...curious to see how you manage that considering you're at 90 players now. Some guys are just going to have to go to make room.
It's always fascinating to see which guys you look to move out in the offseason. Shesterkin, Miller, Tolvanen and Kakko will no longer be waiver exempt next season. You can stash away guys like Raymond and Lundell for one more season but are you going to want to keep that production out of your lineup? Barkov's raise kicks in next year and Klingberg's deal is up...the cap only goes up a million dollars. A lot of factors in play to influence how you'll shape this roster for next season.

Solid matchup for sure. Clear holes in my team I see moving forward, but surprised I made it where I did with some of the cap-cutting I had to maneuver last summer and into this season.Bruyns wroteCOLONGood match Shep, your team took a big step forward this year.
