Detroit Trading Block: 2021-22

Post by Shoalzie »

Ryan Getzlaf is off to a nice start.

He's tied with Toews for 2nd most FOW amongst forwards. Picked up his first goal last night...10 points in 11 games. Plus, he still chips in with 21 hits and averages around a minute of SHTOI per game. He's averaging more SHTOI per game compared to his previous 3 seasons.

His AAV is a more digestible $4.5 million compared to his previous deal. I'm in no position to compete so at 36 he belongs with a team with designs on making the playoffs this year.

I'll generically asking for futures in return for Getzlaf but I wouldn't say no to an NHLer as part of a deal if it helps with salary implications. I'd still like a good draft pick in the deal.

One serious offer so far for Getzlaf. If you can beat 2nd round value, you can be in on these talks. I wouldn't mind moving him ahead of Monday night's deadline.

For a 7-game stretch, he's getting no fewer the 12 FOW a game. He's still top 3 in the category. Only one goal on the season but is averaging around 3 shots per game. Plus, he's around 2 hits per game, close to a point per game, a block per game, on the PK for a minute per game...plus 4 special teams points.

He's too good to be on my team right now...he's better off playing for a playoff team. Talk to me!

Last night was his second game of the year of 4 blocks...he's 3rd in that category amongst centers. He's 6th in SOG and 8th in hits amongst centers.

If I had a more competitive roster, I wouldn't be trading him. Age aside, he's putting up numbers in multiple categories...he's going to help wherever he ends up. I've got a pretty good deal on the table...engage me in trade talks by 1 p.m. if you're interested.

Two more weeks in the regular season...don't have much I can offer to contenders. It's not looking great to reach 850...I can only do NHLer-for-NHLer trades.

Only can offer up forwards...my defense is mess:

Andre Burakovsky($4,900,000)...very consistent player for the Avs (45 pts in 58 games / 44 pts in 53 games / 42 pts in 53 games in his 3 seasons with the team)...pending UFA so curious to see what the Avs plans are for him.

Kyle Okposo ($6,000,000)...probably a long shot to be able to trade given his age and contract but he's having his best point per game season as a Sabre.

Ryan Lomberg / Justin Danforth / Matt Nieto...cheap serviceable periph wingers...Lomberg signed a 2 year extension with the Panthers...Danforth is waiver exempt and he's pretty much a regular now in Columbus (3 goals in 7 games since returning from injury).

I'm not actively putting Gurianov and Colton on the block given their age but I won't say no to good offer if it's presented. My roster needs a lot of work so I just need to look at adding players I can use next season and add extra draft picks.

If I'm doing rough math...if I can get Dickinson back and Lomberg missed the game last night and hopefully he's not out long term...I might be able to reach 850...but that would mean I shouldn't trade anyone without getting a player back.

It looks like I'll need around 45 or 46 games each of the next two weeks. I might be able to get by with only 2 active defensemen and a full group at forward.

If anyone wants any of my periph forwards, I can't trade any of them for less than a 3rd round pick or you can do a swap with an active defenseman of similar value. I don't really want to throw away GP if I can still pull this off.

I (should) be in good shape for the rest of the regular season in regards to GP. I don't anticipate needing to make another move before the 21st. I've got one eye on the end of the season and another eye on the upcoming draft.

Good luck to those playing into the spring...

The position update screwed up my lineup a tad. I only have two healthy/active NHL centers on the roster but only one week to go and I'll just throw a minor leaguer in the spot and I'm safe with GP with rest of my lineup.

Just reiterating, I'm standing pat today but I will probably be shopping for an active center this summer to fill out my lineup. Depending how the lottery goes, we'll see about deals around the draft. I'm basically closed for business until draft time.
