Yup easy deal for koomzz to make but steve solves a 15M problem in one shot.
Re: LAK - STL
Steve is savage. Seems like he gets 1st overall every couple years. Laf is gonna be a good one.

Re: LAK - STL
The value of that #1 pick changed quite a bit with the unusual lottery results. When you consider Lafreniere goes from likely joining a bottom-feeder rebuilding team to potentially a playoff-caliber team. His fantasy value obviously is higher than what you would've expected a few months ago.
Very different circumstances from recent drafts with hyped #1 picks like Matthews and McDavid where you know where they're going and they can put up good numbers on their new team early on but probably not get as much help. Just imagine what kind of supporting cast Lafreniere will have and much more productive he'll be out of the gate knowing that he could have top flight line mates.
You do have to wonder if he gets insulated in the lineup by other established players or does his new team throw him into the deep end and play him on the 1st line right away and see what you have in him. I also have to imagine the lottery winner can cross off acquiring a top flight scoring winger from their shopping list and his ELC will be a bargain.
With a flat salary cap for a couple more years, having a cheaper contract on a young top 6 forward is going to be super valuable. Might also mean that he rings the bell big time on his second deal if he lights it up. It'll be hard to give him a cheap bridge deal if he's an elite offensive player by the end of that rookie contract similar to what McDavid and Matthews received. Plus, the economics of the league could be improved by the end of year 3 so the environment might right for him to get a big contract.

If this whole RTP thing goes according to plan, we'll know his future home in less than a month.

NOICEEE.... great return for 1st OA
Re: LAK - STL
I didn't operate as if this was #1 honestly. This was #12 for me. I lucked into #1 and I knew I was never going to make the pick. Sure I moved #1, but in reality I was able to turn #12 into the return.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONNOICEEE.... great return for 1st OA

Re: LAK - STL
Lol sure you can think that way if it makes you feel better but #12 doesn’t get you Close to that return... nevermind a 1OA in most drafts.
Re: LAK - STL
No 12 doesn't get this. But in most years 12 would've stayed 12. I couldn't pass up trying to see what I could get for 1 given I was gifted it from 12 for nothing other than pure luck

You did very well. I would have done the same in your shoes 100x over.koomzzz wroteCOLONNo 12 doesn't get this. But in most years 12 would've stayed 12. I couldn't pass up trying to see what I could get for 1 given I was gifted it from 12 for nothing other than pure luck
