Not really sure what you expect people to throw out there when all contending teams are up against the cap and there are like 6 teams with a legitimate chance to winand him needing to cut 20 mil in cap. He's 30, making 9.5m and coming off a 50 pt season. Let's not pretend guys are going to be lining up to pay top dollar for a really expensive older player coming off a down year. And I think it's really hilarious that you guys waited til 2 weeks before the start of the season to address this when it was clear as day how this was going to play out months ago. And the guy can't even sign in to the site and has to be negotiated for through a 3rd party?Bruyns wroteCOLONPpl really going to let Matthew get Benn for that?

Re: TOR Block
Only reason I traded for Staal was for gp piece. Don't need that anymore. Benn at 9.5 and his type of player is not someone that you invest in at 30 and hope he gains value in a couple of years. He's no Ovechkin.Bruyns wroteCOLONAs can you, if you can add value like that you can always flip it for similar to what you got for Staal at a later date.Da_Hawks wroteCOLONYou can do better than Fisher and a 2ndShoalzie wroteCOLONIt's over $17 million...I filled in the sheet a week ago after Mike dropped out. It's a tough ask to do this with not a lot of time before the season. Tyler is inheriting a very talented team that I'm sure he would've done well if he had more of the summer to work with it. He's going to have to be creative.
I'd be interested in Benn but I know I don't have enough to offer.

Fair for who you or him? LOL!Shoalzie wroteCOLONThe only thing I can think of is something wacky like Benn + Barrie for 2021 1st + Burakovsky + Sergachev?
That would save him $10 million in cap space but I can't imagine that's even a fair deal.
My thing is I don't really want to get older and I'm not exactly swimming in cap space. I can maybe max out at $6+ million. I'd probably have throw someone overboard to make that deal work with the cap.
Re: TOR Block
What can you do when the owner of the league says he will return for the start of the season then changes his mind? He also is the only one who can open registration so until he returns our messages our hands are kind of tied.CasperX22 wroteCOLONNot really sure what you expect people to throw out there when all contending teams are up against the cap and there are like 6 teams with a legitimate chance to winand him needing to cut 20 mil in cap. Re: TOR Block
He was very clearly never coming back. Even if you believed he was coming back you don't let it get down to the last 2 weeks before the start of the season without a peep from Mike and just throw up your hands.Bruyns wroteCOLONWhat can you do when the owner of the league says he will return for the start of the season then changes his mind? You have a great skill of putting a lot of pressure and blame on others without ever coming up with anything constructive or adding to the league. Bravo.CasperX22 wroteCOLONHe was very clearly never coming back. Re: TOR Block
And say what? Anything I would've said would've flown right over these guys heads while they buried their heads in the sand and pretended everything was OK. This was going to be a difficult job for any new GM coming in with time let alone two weeks from the start of the season and put the guy in a terrible position. And please do tell me what is constructive about your comment? Bravo.

Re: TOR Block
I have a decent amount of cap space, but not super enticed by buying Benn. If there's other ideas let me know.
Re: TOR Block
I want to improve and am looking to make a big splash.
Benn doesn't work for me. But I would give considerable more value in a cap reducing move for a different piece than what's being put on the table.
If there is a more appealing high salary player he would want to put on the table let me know.

Re: TOR Block
Can I suggest that you guys put up a list of needs that Toronto might have? Yes they have to cut cap, but do they also need roster players back? Cheap ELC guys? Waiver eligible? This can affect what people offer. Maybe Christian Fisher does not fit a need so is it really the best offer?

Re: TOR Block
I mean anyone can look at the roster on fantrax, he has guys at every position, defensive depth is a bit weak I'd say but the first priority is simply cutting cap, hence the auction. Making an offer is the best way for Tyler and I to determine the best fit.
