But Datsyuk brings other things. No one comes close to his two-way ability. And that matters just as much. Trust me when April/May/June roll around, this will seem like an obvious conversation to have.
Crosby is a superior face off centerman, is superior offensively, stronger on the boards, and elite defensively. He's just a flat out better hockey player, Datsyuk is good, but alot of his success is attributable to the system he plays in.
Crosby:

Faceoffs: wtf are you saying (THIS SEASON: Datsyuk: 57% Crosby: 55.9%) (LAST SEASON: Crosby: 55.9% Datsyuk: 55.1%)
Elite Defensively: Yes (but this is like me saying Datsyuk is Superior Defensively and Elite Offensively lol. Datsyuk is Elite offensively but not as good as Sid and Sid is Elite Defensively but not as good as Datsyuk).
Superior Offensively: Yes (but wait Datsyuk is Elite Offensively ;))
Stronger on the Boards: ? (You're right but that doesn't mean anything when you compare the styles they play. Datsyuk has his own Natural Selection style that lets him fight along the boards just as much. And he isn't always in the same areas that Crosby is.

Btw the advantage Crosby has offensively in the Regular Season and first couple of rounds of the playoffs each year is not the same in the playoffs. As the level of competition he faces increases he loses more and more space. And his numbers have consistently decreased the further the Penguins get in the playoffs. If the Bruins take on the Penguins in the Conference finals, Sidney is going to have his work cut out for him with Chara on his back.

And I'll take a Datsyuk who is not scoring over a Crosby who is not scoring.

Im telling you guys when the playoffs roll around this is going to seem like a very valid argument. Majority of the people will always side with Crosby. Im aware of that. Again I repeat part of this is personal preference, part of it is the fact that Datsyuk is my favourite player. But obviously Crosby is only going to get better as disgusting as that is.

on pace for 134 pts this season!
hes by far the best player in the game right now!
take a look at this.... if you dare ;)

This is the easy argument Cliff. Crosby is obviously the better offensive player. In the playoffs you will see how good Datsyuk is too.

facey wroteCOLONOne of the stats that speaks volumes to me is the gap from other players:

->On Pits #1= Sidney, #2 = 24 points less.

The 2nd biggest gap in the NHL from #1 to #2 on any other team is 8.

He's doing it by himself, and by it, I mean scoring more then anyone else in the league by a nasty margin.
Agreed completely. Crosbys so talented offensively.

Crosby's also 23 and Datsyuk's 32. Sid, as scary as it is hasn't even hit his prime years yet or as just entered them. I think we haven't even seen the best of him.

this i agree with. ive always said I only say what I say about datsyuk right now only because Sidney has yet to hit his prime. It's starting though man. I've always hated the fact that I missed Gretzky, Orr, Lemieux's glory years. Was only lucky enough to see half of Lidstrom's and Brodeur's careers.

lol yeah never expected to. like i said part of it is the fact that datsyuks my favourite player. i can easily see Sid just dominating in the playoffs and leading the Pens to another Cup.

Yeah man. Lemieux probably the biggest one I regret not getting to watch. Oh I forgot to mention Yzerman, Sakic and Messier. lol man the NHLs never gonna have an era like that.

I missed out man. I didn't get here till 1997. And up until 2002 I was more into the NBA than the NHL.

In their prime, Wayne & Messier did the 80's, Mario, Mr.Y,etc the late 80's early-mid 90's.

The duration that Wayne was the best player in the world is insanity.

I agree, you missed some fucking incredible players. I was spoiled in my younger years!

Mario was just magic.. much like Sid, he created every shift and you knew when he was on the ice. Lemieux never floated and just had unbelievable hockey sense. Sid has taken a lot of advice from Mario I'm certain of it. You can see a lot of Lemieux-esque skills in Sid. But Mario was 235lbs and 6'4 lol

yeah see i didnt even get to see Wayne play. Heck I didnt even see him at the 1998 Nagano games because I got here in December 1997 and was still into Cricket more than hockey haha.

But yeah its not only the fact that the duration was so long. It was also how far ahead of the next best guy he was. He essentially did what Crosby has done for the past 15 games for about 10 years lol.
