NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
The Leafs didn't touch their top three prospects in Liljegren, Sandin or Bracco, they didn't touch their current roster, and Muzzin is signed for one more year at a very good price of $4 million.
Muzzin looked solid in Los Angeles (though this year is a bit of a downer), however the system that Babcock runs will be much better suited for Muzzin. He is a player that can hit/block shots that many feel the Leafs need, but he's a fantastic puck mover with very good zone exit numbers which is what the Leafs really need. He played the right side a lot with Alec Martinez on the left this season and while he is better on the left side, his possession numbers on the right side are certainly very good. Also, getting him early allows him to get accustomed to everything well before we get into the playoffs.
This is a home run in terms of what the Leafs need (outside of the fact he's a lefty) and what they gave up. I don't suspect that Kyle Dubas finished yet, either.

Solid pickup for the Leafs...the trade looked like something we could've seen in our league. The Kings need to rebuild their farm system badly.

[MIN] Alex Stalock extends with the Wild (3 years, $785K AAV)
Why re-sign a backup with An 894 save percentage this year, for this amount of term, mid season, when he's 32 yrs this summer. Seems like there could be better options...like shorter term.

Seattle expansion exposure requirements seems to be what everyone is talking about here.Matthew wroteCOLON[MIN] Alex Stalock extends with the Wild (3 years, $785K AAV)

Auston Watson is a troubled dude. Hopefully he gets his shit straight.

Dam. Wonder what happened to him? Finally cracks the NHL in a grinding role (in which he seemed to excel at) and shit hits the fan. Hoping he does well.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONAuston Watson is a troubled dude. Hopefully he gets his shit straight.

He was a recovering alcoholic from the sounds of it...fell off the wagon last year.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
ASG and bye-week schedule is odd.
4 day stretch after the ASG where only 10 teams are in action.
WPG and PHI with 3 games in 4 days. NJ, PIT, BUF, CLB, BOS, NYR with 2 each, TB and DAL with 1.

Only one more day of this weird ass schedule. Friday and Saturday are loaded and I'm sure they're intentionally light on Sunday because of the Super Bowl. I'll definitely watch Bruins-Caps because I can't handle 7 hours of pregame.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Brassard to Florida. Looks like he will be flipped to another team
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Nick Bjugstad and Jared McCann to Pittsburgh for Derick Brassard (pending UFA), Riley Sheahan (pending UFA), a 2nd and two 4ths
Sounds like Brassard will be moved on again by Florida

Really like this for Pittsburg.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Pretty sure atleast half of my team has been traded this year.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
If florida can flip brassard for a late 1st or a couple 2nds then I prefer it for florida.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I like it from Pittsburgh's perspective as they would have had to address their center situation in the offseason anyway so this locks up two guys for them early going forward.
From Florida's perspective it really depends what they do with Brassard, if they get a good return for him then fair enough, but it sounds like they're clearing the decks to try and sign big UFAs in the offseason. If they can then well done, if not then they may end up with a lot of meh in return for two solid guys. Big gamble

It's taken a while but Erik Gustafsson is turning into a nice piece. Should easily hit 40 pts by the end of the year. Some secondary stats would be nice but 3rd on my team in hits.
Not too shabby for the 203rd pick in the 2012 bbkl draft

GrossMore than 90 percent of the Auston Matthews extension is in signing bonus money.
