LTIR Question

Post by MSP4LYFE »

Can I combine salaries into the LTIR even if the combined salaries exceed the LTIR?

I.E.

Mats Sundin (3,000,000) goes on LTIR

Pavol Demitra (1,500,000) + Ziggy Palffy (2,000,000) are used against the LTIR, but there it is $500,000 over, can that extra 500,000 be counted as an additional player against the cap as opposed to only counting (1.5) in real salary against the LTIR hit, and than adding the additional (2.0)?

3-3-1 : Multiple players may replace the absence of the LTIR skater, however; the cap hit of the replacement player(s) must be equal or lesser combined then the original LTIR skaters cap hit.

btw what this means is for example:

I had Savard (4m) and Streit (4.1m) on the LTIR at the beginning of the season.

This DOES NOT let me bring in Lecavalier at 7.737m using the combined LTIR cap support of both players.

What I can do though is use 2 or more players under 4m to cover Savard (i.e. Belanger = 0.750m + Recchi = 1.95m)

and cover Streit separately (i.e. I replaced him with Lydman = 3m).

I am also unsure of a LTIR situation and would appreciate any input. I had Drew Stafford on LTIR, I took him off and put him on my bench for this week but it is now known that he re-injured his shoulder. I know i am past the roster lock for this week but can i put him back on next week if it is determined that he will be out an extended amount of time for just a week say or do I have to put him back on for the minimum 3 weeks again even though i never had him in active lineup?

nope. it would be for 3 weeks to me. once you take him off IR like you have him putting him back on is not considered part of the same time frame. this is why its important to use news as an indicator. if this week they say stafford is out for only a couple of games, then putting him on IR doesn't make sense. but if hes out for a few weeks then it does.

also keep in mind its like a real life nhl team. when BOS took Savard off IR last year, if he had to be shelved long term a week later he would still have to meet the NHL's requirements.
