What came into my team and what left my team. I didn't count McBain and Jokinen because they joined and then left my team.

so you didn't get a single impact player for the first overall pick in the draft.

recent 1st overall picks:

taylor hall
john tavares
steven stamkos
patrick kane

were we supposed to be impressed by this?

yep, and a bunch of mid-tier prospects is gonna get you there faster...i see.

at one point you had: couturier, voracek, purcell, skille along with some other reasonable pieces,

what you have to show for that is a less than average goalie tandem and several mid-tier prospects.

you're trigger happy and your assets are suffering because of it. some research into what kind of deals happen for picks on/near draft day would have held you in good stride. that deal for the 1st was a joke if you look back. seriously. try looking up what kyle gave up for like 6th or 7th overall last year. insanity.

then you post this as if to brag and say look what i can do.

i would like to take this opportunity to thank you though for trading that pick to frank, subsequently getting it removed from the draft and making my 3 early picks even higher though :)

And clearly you know nothing about those prospects other than that they are prospects.

no one is saying those players suck. You just could have gotten impact players for that pick or at least something of significant trade value. Anton is right, this isn't impressive it just reminds us all of the embarassment we felt for you the day you made that trade.

So I should have stuck with 3 NHL forwards and hope for the best? I love every single prospect that I've added in this deal. I wouldn't hesitate to trade any of them for the right price. I believe in my prospect pool. We'll see next year.

Yes I can say one thing, holding onto picks until draft time = Priceless.

People get bred in offseason and tend to lose sight in the value of actual players. The picks become so cool and people want em and will pay. I did BIG TIME!. stupid really...

exactly! 1st overall fetched Marian Hossa + Paul Martin +++ last year and would have again this year.

I think a few of you are talking out of your asses here...Marincin isn't an impact prospect? Really...6'5 monster defensively, and leading the WHL in points from the back end as a rookie...Doherty, similar story, big, strong, and mobile defenceman who can score. Loktionov and Wiercoch are no joke either, and Ross could be a special H2H player. I didn't agree with the initial trade, but the entire return as is has a TON of potential, to say otherwise shows a complete lack of knowledge towards the above prospects.

you've been here since the beginning. you know the ransom 1st round picks, nevermind 1st OVERALL picks, can be held for.

he could have gotten all those prospects for the pick ALONE if he wanted. or an NHL impact player plus the prospects. you know it would have happened. it's not an overstatement.

bry and i have already identified the kind of deals that are available on draft day.

He didn't get name value, but make no mistakes, his return has the chance to have a similar if not greater impact in the future.

isn't that something. problem is players like that can be acquired without giving up 1st overall.

to give up the 1st overall pick for a bunch of "could be's" and not get a single sure-fire impact player is not good asset management.
