Premises were different this trade deadline from the last couple where this didn't go down (yeah this deal has been talked about like forever):
Darling is clearly out of confidence.
I have Dubnyk backup.
Matthew was more flexible than in the past and going for the rape rather than for the ultimate rape only.
There were direct competitors that could have upgraded by landing Dubnyk themselves.

I hate losing Parayko cause the best is yet to come there, and I could actually end up missing him during these playoffs already, but it really didn't look there was any other option that would work.

While this trade clearly improves my chances on paper, I'm also aware it could also backfire immediately, with my goaltending luck I can totally see going out in a week where Darling on the bench does better than Dubnyk and my team misses Parayko's contribution.

But the deal made too much sense under the current circumstances, and I would have never done it if Dubnyk didn't have a nice contract lasting for the next few years

Id take crawford over rinne. Id say saros is more on rinnes heals than anyone in chicago is on crawfords. Both solid tho.
