2016-2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs Discussion
Re: 2016-2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs Discussion
I have no idea how you can blame that game on Rinne.
Goal 1: Sure, that was his fault.
Goal 2: Beautiful play, he had no chance.
Goal 3: Off the defenceman and in, he had no chance.
Goal 4: 37 minutes without a shot. Any goalie would tell you how difficult it is to be THAT cold. A shot like that with a partial screen from the dman is not an easy save under regular circumstances.
The 4 goals on 11 shots is obviously a bad look. And I understand the argument that maybe Rinne should have had that fourth goal and/or needed to make that save after the Preds made the comeback. But Rinne has been putting up historical numbers in the playoffs so I don't think one bad game (which I don't think can be blamed on him at all) suddenly makes him a bad goalie again.

Well I don't know if I'd say he's been that good the whole playoffs. Rinne put up crazy numbers in the Blackhawks series but he's been slowly regressing back to his career average ever since.
vs Chicago - .978
vs STL - .929
vs ANA - .923
Career average - .917
