Matthew wroteCOLONDue to Marc andre fleurys no movement clause Pittsburgh will be forced to protect him at the expansion draft. Which means they will be unable to protect Matt murray, who in all likelihood will be the goalie who leads Pittsburgh to this year's Stanley cup.
They'll move him. Enough teams looking for a top goalie.

He has a NMC, so if he desires to stay on the cup winning team raking in the dough, he can.

Dude wants to play. He'd rather be somewhere else. Money is the same wherever he is.

He will play. If Pittsburgh is forced to protect fleury, then they would need to trade murray or lose him to expansion.

I would be shocked if Fleury is on the Penguins roster next season.

Pretty much the outcome I expected... If it wasn't for Jones SJ gets swept like they deserved. Everyone but him and Couture were pathetic.

But whatever. Not like I deserve to be happy... ever.

Patrick Marleau on the block, btw.

LOL at the Conn Smythe to Crosby.

I guess they felt like they couldn't let this chance go without knowing whether another, more deserving one, would ever come around.

Kessel would have been the obvious choice.

if somehow (i.e. the voters feeling too embarassed to give the big prize to the same player they shitted over for a couple of yrs, and especially at the time of TOR/PIT trade) you didn't want to go with the obvious choice then Bonino. Letang did great as well.

by what I saw Crosby was in a 3rd tier with Malkin, Murray..

P.S. and there were more deserving options among the Sharks as well even if they lost in the final

in more important news..

http://theahl.com/monsters-bring-calder ... nd-p202772
Bjorkstrand, a 21-year-old rookie and a third-round selection by Columbus in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, was awarded the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the MVP in the Calder Cup Playoffs
I believe he's the youngest winner ever. Not sure though

Crosby probably won for the 3 GWG in the ECF and the fact he kept the top line in check in the finals. He wasn't dominant but he was clutch. It could've been Murray...could've been Kessel...could've been Letang.

The Monsters were dominant. Swept the first round...had the Griffins down 3-0 but took them out in 6...and then they sweep the Reign and the Bears.

They switched from Korpisalo to Forsberg in goal after the Griffins gave them a scare. He won the final 9 games of the playoffs. He could've been the MVP as well.

I thought the exact same thing. Only rationale is that Crosby played really well and kept the other team's busy to give Kessel space. But I think Kessel should have gotten it.

Crosby was the pens best player in the playoffs. Sure guys like Phil scores lots of goals but Crosby was excellent at both ends of the ice. He played very much like Toews and Kopitar. He did a lot more than just rack up tons of points. I know we all expect more (point wise) from Crosby, but it's hard not to love what he did when he wasn't scoring.

IMO the Conn should have been one of Phil or Crosby, you can't go wrong with either guy.

granted I only saw some games, but Crosby made more than a couple of crappy plays in those, and some were on the defensive side of the puck.

This just in to dismiss the legend going on

Phil, Malkin, Letang - all made multiple bonehead plays. That doesn't mean that all didn't have a great playoffs imo.

Crosby certainly wasn't perfect, but he was pretty consistent, especially in the games the Pens won.
