There's a chance that Datsyuk might leave for the KHL next season and Detroit would be on the hook for his full 7.5m salary.

Mike Smith has been insane since returning from injury. Like a 970 so percentage thru 7 games. He is going to cost Arizona Matthews.

That pick is likely 5-7 next year.

Seriously though, I'm happy to see him playing well. He was obviously playing hurt for most of the season and now he's a new goalie after that surgery.

I'd like to be that optimistic but when I'm the Atlantic Division, I'm going to taking a lot of L's most weeks even I'm an improving team next year. I'd be very happy if I can get out of the bottom 5.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
158th pick in bbkl Brett Lernout made his debut last night. Don't think there are many guys taken outside the 1st that have made the NHL yet.

I have a hard time understanding that scenario.Lee wroteCOLONThere's a chance that Datsyuk might leave for the KHL next season and Detroit would be on the hook for his full 7.5m salary.

He still has one year left on his contract, I don't believe dats is the kind of guy that would pull a Kovalsuck.
And in the unlikely scenario he leaves even before his contract is over, why should the Wings have his cap hit to count? it would not be an injury but a player purposely not fulfilling his contract

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I'd be disappointed if he walked out with a year to go and put the Wings in a tough spot. I hope it's all rumors and he'll make up his mind this summer. Just give them one more year and he can leave for Russia on great terms with the fans and the team. If he leaves now, it's a bad look.
