Re: 2015 Waiver Draft Discussion
Do waiver pickups have to have an NHL Contract? I seem to recall this last year but maybe it's just the after waiver draft picks?

Correct, you can't claim a player that doesn't have an NHL contract but you can pick them in the waiver draft.

I've updated the draft order to reflect all the trades. I'm impressed with the activity surrounding this draft. We're more than halfway through in 2 days.

When does non-waiver draft waiver pickup period open?

I'll say noon the day after the draft ends...unless the draft wraps in the morning.
Re: 2015 Waiver Draft Discussion
iirc waivers only open after roster submission, if that's what you're asking.Handsome&FairMike wroteCOLONWhen does non-waiver draft waiver pickup period open?

Seems like the extra waiver picks are being put to good use. Still have a handful of guys left on my list too.

Re: 2015 Waiver Draft Discussion
Surprised Czarnik made it through to the 2nd round...I wanted the Arizona goalie for obvious reasons but he was on the radar. I've been surprised by how far some of the college guys have slipped in this draft.
Re: 2015 Waiver Draft Discussion
Czarnik sucks guys like 5'9"
I avoided all high scoring sub-5'10" NCAA forwards because theyre only good at scoring at that level likely. Small college guys don't transition to NHL well like ever its a waste of a pick

Especially the Gaudreau kid, he's a bum.kimmer wroteCOLONCzarnik sucks guys like 5'9"

Gaudreau was supposed to be round 1 selection. Czarnik isn't in his territory

Re: 2015 Waiver Draft Discussion
The small guys in the NCAA tend to not get drafted but if they're big time point producers, they'll get a NHL contract when they leave school.
