Roster Submission...
Why do we have to submit rosters so early? 2 weeks before the season starts?
NHL teams still have 50-60 guys at camp. Teams still havent made their cuts yet. There are still UFA's who could be signed within a week or 2. Guys can get injured at camp/preseason. So why are we submitting rosters so early?

Re: Roster Submission...
We are submitting rosters one week early...The first scheduled game is on October 8th, we need the time between then and the first game to check over all team spread sheets and ensure all 30 cubs are cap compliant, and under the 50 contract/60 player limit. Furthermore, no team is still at 50/60 guys, it's more like 45-50, and less in most cases. That number should be around 25-30 by the 27th, which is more than enough time to gauge player value.bcool wroteCOLONWhy do we have to submit rosters so early? 2 weeks before the season starts?

If a player is still unsigned, no need to worry, you can freely callup/demote a newly signed player (only once) after Oct 27th, and they don't need to count against your 23 man roster (if you don't want them too) until they sign.

i think i was at 74 when you wrote this post lolwe need the time between then and the first game to check over all team spread sheets and ensure all 30 cubs are cap compliant, and under the 50 contract/60 player limit. Furthermore, no team is still at 50/60 guys
25-30? what's that?it's more like 45-50, and less in most cases. That number should be around 25-30 by the 27th, which is more than enough time to gauge player value.
did you mean sept 27th?If a player is still unsigned, no need to worry, you can freely callup/demote a newly signed player (only once) after Oct 27th, and they don't need to count against your 23 man roster (if you don't want them too) until they sign.
example:
Jere Lehtinen is unsigned, so i can submit my roster with him in the farm without the need to place him on waivers, even if older than 28. Once he comes back to the Stars, i can call him up to the active roster without exposing him to re-entry waivers.
(makes sense, otherwise one would have to keep the unsigned player on the 23 active roster to be able to use him when he signs). From that point forward he will be again eligible for waivers.
Is all of this correct? thx

Re: Roster Submission...
So someone signs, they don't have to be exposed on waivers for a short time.
What about the person we send down to make room, if they are waiver elibigle?

Re: Roster Submission...
Lets see if I can answer this in such a way where I regard your feelings...Kezia wroteCOLONSo someone signs, they don't have to be exposed on waivers for a short time.

When a player does NOT have a contract, however, meets all other requirements for waiver eligibilty (ie. 150 GPs, over 28 years old) They ARE allowed to be in Minors. We shall call him Player A.
In the Event of Player A signing a deal he must be brought to active roster immediately to avoid Waiver Eligibilty. If there is no room in your Pressbox then you must assign someone to your Minors...Player B if you will.
It is a strong suggestion that you have room in your pressbox for this situation however if not then the next best thing would be to have Player B be a NON-Waiver Eligible player, beacause if Player B is indeed Waiver Eigible he will be subject to the 24 hour waiver period upon you sending him to the minors.
How'd I do?

You would be shocked at my amount of patience i especially showed it last night when some lady asked me if i am incompetent and if i knew how to save her information correctly because she is sick of us that do not know how to do our job, clearly she had a bad time with a previous agent lol
