Who Will Win the Stanley Cup?: Central Division

Post by Robin Hood »

LET'S SEE IF BBKL CAN PREDICT THE WINNER!

I am creating 6 polls (only a max of 10 teams can be entered for the poll).

Each poll will reflect an NHL division.

Pick the team you think is most likely to win the cup out of the division.

Once all 6 divisions have a winner through voting, we will have a final vote.

My pick for the Stanley Cup Winner this year: Detroit Red Wings. Datsyuk, Lidstrom and Zetterberg are gonna dominate.

IMO, this is the best division in the NHL.

The time is now for the Wings...Lidstrom isn't hanging around to lose again in the second round. When healthy, this team looked like a contender last year and they bring back Hudler and add a hungry Modano...this is will be their best shot at the cup for the next few years when they transition from the Lidstrom era. The Blackhawks are still contenders in my view but aren't quite as deep and balanced as last year. The division could get up to 4 teams in the playoffs with Detroit and Chicago along with Nashville and St. Louis. Columbus will have some growing pains with their new coach and they still have too many holes.

I voted Detroit, but expect a big year from St. Louis and Nashville. This division is going to be the toughest, IMO.

LOL @ "the time is now" ... maybe its their last chance, but I would hate for that to be confused with a group of players entering their primes together, you know, like Pitts, Philly, Wash, or Chicago.

IMO that still goes to the atlantic, 3 teams that could do it. Detroit could do it but they are getting old. Nashville yea maybe in 3 years or so. St louis? if halak is last seasons halak they will make the playoffs. Chicago Still the strongest team in the division I think. CBJ get real.

ahha I laugh at the time is now thing as well facey.

No way man. Detroit adding Hudler is better than Chicago losing a lot of depth. And yes, it matters.

Adding Turco + Beach + Stalberg + Lalonde/Olsen/Leddy > losing Niemi + Vertseeg & Ladd

Buffy hurts for playoff time, but somehow I fail to see it really effecting them tooooo much, Patty & Jonathan are still improving.

What?

So Beach + Stalberg + Rookies are going to replace the offence Versteeg, Ladd and Byfuglien brought? Along with whatever intangibles they bring?

You really think Chicago is a BETTER team?

I'm confused..

I think Turco >> Niemi, Marty can be 10x the goalie.

I think the leafs over-paid for Vertseeg, trading Stalberg could make us look really dumb.

Adding 1 of three top end d-men who've had time to develop is not a bad thing... Who did they lose on the back end? Sopel???? Adding a slick skating, soft passing youngster is surely an improvement there.

Beach brings more edge then any player they lost, he's a crazy MOFO.... Morin more scoring ability then all except Versteeg, but combined with the depth added, development of their young-super-stars, and incredible experience of winning the cup...hmmm

I'm not saying they are better, but I don't think they are notably worse either.

It remains to be seen whether Turco is an upgrade in net, Stalberg has not proven anything more than flashes at the NHL level to date, and neither Shawn Lalonde or Dylan Olsen (NCAA) will be on the big club this season.

I don't think their losses will cripple the team by any means, but I think it's foolish to suggest it made them stronger in the short term.

turco is a DEFINITE improvement in net. but the rest of the hawks are not as good. but toews is going to put up 90 points this year. kane and hossa are going to be stellar offensively as usual

They will not match last year's regular season, or playoffs.
