it's a 5 years though. i could understand if it was only a year or two and they just wanted to get to the floor and grab a solid guy but the term+money combo is ridiculous

His advanced stats are very good, he is only 27 and Oilers have cap space and want to improve their team. With the cap continuing to increase it won't look overpaid in years 3, 4 and 5 when we are seeing UFAs sign for way more. Fayne will help too and I thought they were smart signings for a team with lots of $ to spend.

Not great for the BBKL teams that own them though.
