Jason Spezza has requested a trade, and Ottawa Senators general manager Bryan Murray says he'll try to make that happen.

i'd guess they'll get a C back in the dealthom54 wroteCOLONZibanejad to C !!!!!
murry also said he "wont get true value for jason" and that "he doesn't want to trade him but will honor his request"
i see no reason cheap ass nonis wont rip off murray. Heck, spezzas childhood team is the leafs and he's always wanted to play for toronto.

If Senza is traded Sensfanjosh is gone too, fans of this team are brutal and run top players out of town.

Anaheim and St. Louis seem to be the front runners

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
my guess would be Etem + something, seems like he's being shopped around this summerdave1959 wroteCOLONAnaheim and St. Louis seem to be the front runners
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
St. Louis makes a lot of sense. Lots of cap space, need offence and looking to shake things up.

Captain for Captain. Backest for Spizza

Why? You think Sens get a lot less?kyuss wroteCOLONKind of stopped to make sense hereBruyns wroteCOLON 2014 1st + Rattie
Blues are in win now mode and paid a lot for Miller, don't see why they wouldn't move a top prospect and 21st pick for him.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
I don't think Ratti is on the prospect level required for Spezza...talking about a real #1 center.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
He has demanded a trade and the GM has already said they won't get true value for him and he makes 7M. I don't think they are going to get a huge haul.

Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
i'm with matt on this one, plus he's an expiring contract, so you may only get spezza for 1 yearBruyns wroteCOLONHe has demanded a trade and the GM has already said they won't get true value for him and he makes 7M. I don't think they are going to get a huge haul.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
You get a #1 Center that isn't old, brings a huge frame and if used properly could instantly fix a power play. You don't get that even at the trade deadline for a later 1st, ratti doesn't make the fit for an entire season + playoffs and negotiating rights.
It will be a high-potential prospect, or perhaps they add and land Kesler (because of years left on his cheap deal).

he's even said if the sens dont trade him he's leaving via UFA. The 21st pick + rattie is a whole lot more than nothing.
i dont think that's too far off what the sens will get for spezza.
Re: NHL Transactions, Injuries & Rumours
Guess we play the waiting game to find out.
Look at what Vanek went for this season X2 not a C, but I don't think Spezza is a vastly superior player. Rattie is the Blues top prospect and just led his AHL team in goals in his first pro season. I think you're mistaken if you think teams are giving 1st rounders and better prospects than Rattie for one season of Spezza who has had his game questioned in recent years and isn't looked at as a good defensive C.
If Spezza was locked up to a cap friendly contract I'd agree the Sens would get a lot for him, but not when he is on an expiring deal.
