how is Rynnas so related with this trade that you keep bringing him up?
what i'm saying is that it seems to me like anyone's guess which of the 2 packages gets more GP this season, so i don't get how GP can be a factor in making this deal.
On my spreadsheet, I have my active roster coming up for the season, barring a few tweaks. Rynnas was listed as a bench player because I had no other viable options for salary to meet the floor. He would not have added any stats or games played. Adding Recchi gives me an extra winger at the same salary that will see time in the NHL.

this is a bad trade kezia. the main piece you got was recchi.

you keep using GP as a reason to make a deal but look at what Columbus did. He found a way to add GP with just picks.

GP is a weak excuse. You would have been much better off keeping comrie till he played well with crosby and THEN moving him. or you know sitting tight till a better offer came along. you seem to be addresing "urgent" (still not THAT urgent) needs instead of addressing "important" needs. very short sighted. you were short sighted with the turco trade as well. its sent you into a downward spiral.

I'm already over the roster limit.

The only trades that sent me in a spiral were the ones I made that contained players that you made shitty offers for, which in your eyes constitutes a shitty trade.

How was I short sighted on the Turco trade? I traded him and some spare parts for 2 very good prospects and a first round pick which I converted to a young NHL goalie who should be a starter right now and a 30 point 3rd liner for 750k. Turco is 35 years old. I'm rebuilding. Yes. Horrible rebuild in progress here in Philadelphia.

Games played aren't an issue, I have atleast 4 NHL players sitting on my bench. Salary was a concern. I had Jussi Rynnas on my active bench.

lol lee. i've been rejected in trades so many times i dont care about that at all man. dont use a cynical approach to justify my judgment of the trade. the whole league has seen what you've done with the team.

considering I can't add contracts , no one seems to want to take any on, I was using an ahl back up for salary and toiv has potential to be a back up in Chicago , I think I did fairly well for comrie. I'm over the roster limi and I added 2 players that I like while getting rid of one that I don't . I addressed 2 needs .

You seem to start off with a very high asking price, than get way below market value.

Is it way below market value when he's been on the market for...2 weeks?

And then you pretty much get exactly what you were asking for to begin with, along with a prospect and a pick?

It was more of a general observation.

But "exactly what you wanted" was a 40+ year old veteran and a 2nd but more likely 3rd string goalie?

Really?

Salary and a goalie.

There's still a pre season to play. Giving the role to Crawford is a little pre-mature. Toiv has NHlL experience.

If it helps clear the air at all, people were messaging me telling me how much cap trouble I was in and offering their shit 4th liners for my first and second round picks. And that's not a exaggeration.

Making this trade gave me a lot more leverage than I had before.

disagee with this 100%. Imo your team is actually much worse. Your tradeable assets and in turn your overal team worth is much lower than when you joined.

It's not a great return but Comrie's value is a bit overrated. Lee could've held onto him into the season and if he did have a resurgence as Sid's winger, the offers would be flying in given his modest price.

And if he's not healthy like he hasn't been for the last couple of years? Or he has another year like he did in 08'09?

I'll take the risk on Toivenen. I"ll take the salary of Recchi. I'll take putting Rynnas in the minors. and I'll take a decent prospect and a draft pick over my asking price.

You can't please everyone. And thankfully I don't care what any of you think about how I'm building my team. Making the playoffs isn't my goal this year. Or next probably.

Comrie is overrated but no one overrated him higher than lee and yet he got a terrible return.

I am glad you dont value any of our opinions because none of us clearly know what we are talking about. I started last year as a bottom 8-10 team without a doubt. I had no goaltending when I took over the avs (well kari ramo but he went to khl) I didnt have the full 20 man roster and I had a very week prospect pool. I am not saying I started out with as bad of a team as yours and I am not saying I have done the best job of everyone on here but you should respect peoples opinions who have actually bettered their team. you should try running ideas off people like honger who have actually went the 100% rebuild way and is making huge strides towards being competitive.

Well when everything I do is wrong is some peoples eyes, it's kind of easy to giving up caring what they think. I'm building my team how I see fit.

I keep getting told that I don't have a plan, when I clearly do.

There are a million ways to build a winning team, I'm taking my own route. Come see me in a year or 2 when my team will look much better. There's a reason I am adding all of these future parts like Harding, D'Amigo, Ross, Morin, Vishnievskiey, Shultz, Toivenen, Parse.. and I can keep going with the young promising players that I've added since taking over the team.

On the other hand.. I added Mike Comrie for a 7th dman and an average prospect. I traded him for a potential starter in Toivenen.

I traded Kubina, Turco, Salo and Khabibulin all for future pieces.

I am not trading my first round pick. You can take a guess why.

So come see me next summer and tell me how horrible I've been.

Fair enough dude, but what lots of us are saying here, is that consistency and being reasonable in talks will get you further along then talking out of your ass :D

Some parts of your plan do seem to be playing out nicely, and the return for Comrie does looks nice when the entire forumla is written out, but once again, entirely inconsistent with what you were saying (I know I would have made an offer if you hadn't come at me with the asking price you did).
