Miettinen
Re: Miettinen
Last Two Seasons:
Games Played in the Last Two seasons
Comrie -106
Miettinen - 161
Points in the Last Two Seasons
Comrie - 48
Miettinen - 86
PPG
Comrie - 0.45
Miettinen - 0.54
So Comries been injury prone, and put up less points per game than Miettinen in the last two seasons. If you want to hype him up based off his past accomplishments, trade him for Cheechoo It'd be a huge win.

Re: Miettinen
Having mono makes you injury prone all of a sudden?
Re: Miettinen
Miettinens missed 24 games in 4 seasons.
Comries missed 81 games in 4 seasons.
Even if you subtract Mono (30 games), hes missed twice as many games due to injuries. So yes if I were to compare the two players I'd say one is more injury prone.

Re: Miettinen
He helped Ottawa throughout the playoffs despite having an injured shoulder that required local anesthetic to numb the pain, this prevented him from reaching down to tie his skates.
Since the lock out, Comrie has played:
80 games - 30 goals -60 pts
65 games - 20 goals - 45 pts
76 games -21 goals - 49 pts
63 games -10 goals - 27 pts
43 games -13 goals - 21 pts
08-09 as no doubt a bad year. I don't know where this "injury prone" crap is coming from. He had mono.

53 games in 5 seasons is by no stretch of the imagination considered "injury prone". He missed more games, but he isn't injury prone.inferno31 wroteCOLONMiettinens missed 24 games in 4 seasons.

Re: Miettinen
The issue is that almost every single column you listed goes down every year. I get less games less goals, but even at a point per game pace in the last 2 years hes done less than Miettinen. Hes a talented player no doubt, but I wouldn't trade him straight up. Considering Miettinen last season almost totaled Comries last two seasons.Kezia wroteCOLONHe helped Ottawa throughout the playoffs despite having an injured shoulder that required local anesthetic to numb the pain, this prevented him from reaching down to tie his skates.

Care to address why Comrie has 190 more points and 150 more games played? How about Miet having one 20 goal season? Comrie having 5? Comrie having 2 30 goal seasons with Miet at 0? Comrie with 3 50 point seasons (+ one 49 point season) with Miet at 0?

Both 30 years old.
Statistically They are very similar players wouldn't you say? Well player A is Jonathon Cheechoo. The NHL is a what have you done for me lately league, if you think performances of players from over 2 seasons ago is as relevant as their recent play you should be trading all your assets to land Cheechoo, and players like him.
If you are smarter then that, then you'll realize value is very much determined by whats been done recently. For the last two seasons Miettinen has been a better player than Comrie, statistics show that. For the seasons 4-6 years ago it may not be the case, but seriously its not really that relevant. I'm not going to argue this point any further as if you cannot grasp it its not worth my time.

No, I need to be trading for Ales Hemsky, since he apparently doesn't have much value.

Re: Miettinen
Take this from someone who has coached at a high level himself...it isnt Crosby's, Comrie's or Comrie's agent's decision where he plays. He is going to get put where ever the coach sees the best fit. Crosby can call Comrie all he wants but it won't be his call as to where he plays. Not saying he won't play Crosby's wing, but anyone that knows anything about professional sports or coaching in general knows the players play where they're told to. I've never let my players dictate to me where they play, they play where I see them fit the best. If they don't like it well tough shit lol.Kezia wroteCOLONSo Mike Comrie's agent lied while on record about the call from Crosby stating that Comrie is playing on his wing?

Re: Miettinen
Yup. I'm not saying that he will be there regardless of how he plays, but if Sidney Crosby personally calls you and wants you to play on his wing, there is a damn good chance that the coach with atleast entertain the notion given to him by one of the top 2 players in the world.Habber wroteCOLONTake this from someone who has coached at a high level himself...it isnt Crosby's, Comrie's or Comrie's agent's decision where he plays.
