I don't get it personally. It isn't like Boston doesn't get media coverage. He and Markov in MTL are the two most under rated Dmen for me. Both get no love but are massive pieces to their respective clubs.

Agree. No thread derailing but SUCK IT BOSTON deserved a rebuttal. When Kessel has made it out of the first round of playoffs Maybe that might be warranted. If it was a single player game, Kessel is LEET. BUt it takes a full team to win.

Agreed, the Kessel trade helped Boston win the cup. But it also helped the Leafs begin their rebuild. Our team is built on some huge trades and the Kessel one was the biggest.

Btw - Nonis/Burke deserve a lot of credit. A HUGE chunk of our entire roster is built on trades:

Trade: Kessel, Phaneuf, JVR, Bernier, Lupul, Bolland, Gleason, Franson, Gardiner
Free Agents: Clarkson, Raymond, Bozak
Drafted: Kadri, Rielly, Kulemin, Reimer, Gunnarsson

Once the leafs bring in a quality backup goalie I think we can take 1 round this year. Bernier needs some help and reimkala isn't the answer. We don't need bernier getting burnt out.

I think they need a Seidenberg or Mike weaver on the back end. Phaneuf is over played. I think if they had a 1B or 2A D-man it would send that team to the next level. Up front they are built perfect.

Yah. I think phaneuf is good but he gets burned way too much when he is overplayed. His minutes need to be cut.

Lol...i hope not. He puts up great stats but as an actual hockey player im not sure how effeftive he actually is. Only resson he saw so much pp time was because of the concussion for vis.

For the last 3 seasons ?

Shot blocking d-first mobile dman, I like the guy. NYI would be stupid to let him leave unless they have an inside line on 2 dmen who they believe fit their build better.

I think MacDonald is a fit in most top-4's. Edmonton should be chasing him if he hits the market though.

Offensively? Ideally NYI wouldn't want Macdonald on any PP unit either but necessity makes that happen. He is however a great 3-4 defensemen who can play a lot 5 on 5 and pk's well. Not only that but he plays mistake free hockey most of the time. Despite what Norris voting last season may have suggested, keeping the puck out of your net and getting the puck out of your own zone is job number 1 for a defensemen and that is Macdonald to a T.

If the Leafs could get Macdonald in some sort of Gardiner deal it would be a homerun for the Leafs. Macdonald would take a lot of pressure off of Dion and give you guys 2 big minute defensemen. If would also help that turnover ratio, Gardiner is coughing that puck up all to regularly. Needs to take a freaking hit and not panic. Their might be better options out there but for the pieces said to be in play, this is the most realistic option and would make the leafs deep run chances that much better.

I'm gonna make a Pre "I told you so" post. Will bump next year.

Carl Soderberg will be a STUD and signed for another year at 1.08. People missed out on the opportunity to land an amazing package when i had Barrie + Soderberg + 1st. I am gonna regret trading Barrie because i also think he will be a "I told you so" guy but i had to get another forward.

SuperMario wroteCOLONAs the title goes - list anything you think you were right on and the rest of BBKL called you crazy. Or heck just a good call.

-Draft picks in late rounds (not every guy you've ever picked, a late round pick that made it to the NHL)
Frederik Andersen, i believe he was the very last pick of the first ENtry draft i took part to
-Trades people thought you got crushed in
i think the Malkin - Koivu deal may apply here :P

going by the title thread, i guess the main theme was me building a playoff team in year 1, and again getting to the playoffs in yr 2.

Since then onward, i think it became a theme with only you still calling for my team to miss the playoffs :)

Anyone with a serious half brain will know u wouldve made the playoffs with ease. Its juts that your character is that much to hate for, for those that kept saying ur team sucks, that they constantly allow themselves to believe they can belittle you into making everyone think u have a shitty team... Word jealousy comes to mind. I know ur truly one of the more competent gms around here and not a long shot out of bbkl championship picture one year
