I don't have much of an opinion on the w-l-t issue. I think both scoring systems have some advantages and looking at the standings there is minimal movement if it was changed. The biggest drawback of changing is I think it promotes building a more specialized team and focussing on certain cats and ignoring others since winning 15-1 would have no benefit.
Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
Not sure how thats a drawback though. In the NHL, teams like the Red Wings are built on finesse and offence and are largely successful. And then you have teams like the Coyotes and the Preds who are built on strong goaltending and defensive schemes and have been equally as successful in recent years.Bruyns wroteCOLONI don't have much of an opinion on the w-l-t issue. Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
It's a drawback because if you are up by 5 cats and 2/ are extremely close going into the final day there is no suspense or impact of winning those cats. I understand the points raised for switching to w-l-t and I'd have no issue with the switch. I knew I was losing to shook this week, but stole a couple cats today (points, sog) and goalie cats were up for grabs with Brodeur and Crawford playing which made following the games today more interesting.bcool wroteCOLONNot sure how thats a drawback though. We say W-L-T is sufficient for playoffs and determining the 'winner', yet we (I'll say it again, by mistake) sum categories wins in the season.
The only reason this is our system, is CBS. Not designed to be this way.
I for one will lose interest i a w - l - t system.
Whats the point of tuning in for a week where i play a team like tampa, la or toronto? Ive automatically got the loss. At least with the 16 cat system ill pay attention to see if i can squeak out some wins in various cats. If that wasnt the case i know im not going to give a shit.

As much as I support the w-l-t kapg does make a good point.
Against certain teams there wouldn't be any point in watching.

Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
Too bad there is such a loophole that a team can knowingly dress NHL goalies that are not on active NHL rosters. Its one thing to plug in backups to support a tank but non-roster NHL goalies is another. An NHL team couldn't legally play a game without a goalie so why can we? I know its a loophole and as long as GGP is reached, there is nothing in the rules to prevent. It will skew standings and points big time. Major advantage to a team facing multiple tankers. This has to be fixed in the future.

Lol... This is what ive been saying for like ever lol... Esp when buffalo bryuns benched goalies intentionally and im like wtf but him and others were like i aint breaking any rules trolololol so wtf
Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
Never benched goalies, always had 2 of Thomas, Brodeur and Reimer dressed every week. I benched, good players early in the season, but had shitty players in their spot. If I still had my 1st and was confident I'd make GP I would have started sitting active players and dressing inactive players like Lee is doing currently. Bad teams already have a huge disadvantage and a near impossible task of trying to catch up to the good teams, I see no problem with what Lee is doing and think bottom teams should exploit any rule they can to improve their team. If CC doesn't like it I'm sure the rule will be amended for future seasons, but it isn't like Lee is all of a sudden going to be a powerhouse franchise if he moves his first up a few spots. IMO it is smart GMing on his part to maximize the value of his asset within the confines of the rules.kimmer wroteCOLONLol... This is what ive been saying for like ever lol... i have no issues with Lee benching his guys, however, on the flip side, it's why i would support a W-L-T system. Teams trying to catch me could do so if they were playing Lee in the final few weeks (because of the 28-32 points they'll gain on him) It also doesn't help i have tough competition during those weeks.
Either way, Lee has done nothing wrong, i actually find it ironic that people catch on to this happening now, it's been happening for years lol .

I also have no problem with Lee taking advantage of a hole in the system. It is smart management. I do however, have a fault with the system and how it affects our league. NHL parity, as much as possible in a fantasy environment, has always been a goal in this league. Putting a team out with no one in the crease is not very competitive and really goes against any spirit of competition. Its the same as dressing players like Marc Savard and Chris Pronger to reach cap floors, imo. Not realistic.

Sure it is, teams have done this before to get to the cap floor.CAM wroteCOLON Its the same as dressing players like Marc Savard and Chris Pronger to reach cap floors, imo. Not realistic.
i'm sure the Isles did it for a few years with Kolzig, etc...and i think TB did it as well.
Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
ya lol wtf u talking about CAM real NHL teams do this all the time. Just LIKE pronger and savard in their real respective NHL teams lol
Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
Yeah I benched Schneider at the end of last season otherwise I wouldn't have landed Barkov
Re: Week 17 - WARNING 1:00PM EST START
Bad examples to prove a point. Both those players teams would like to have there cap OFF the books as they are not cap floor teams. I know they are both on LTIR so it is a mute point. If you are referring to the Islanders acquiring Thomas as a pure cap move, that would be a good example. Whole other topic anyway. Week 17 thread has turned into exploiting a BBKL loophole. It exists, if need be, take advantage. I can still have the opinion that I believe this is something that has to be fixed in the offseason.kimmer wroteCOLONya lol wtf u talking about CAM real NHL teams do this all the time.
