The first is NYR in 2011. and Brian Elliot.

I overpaid huge, I'm well aware.

Got very very much owned on this deal, but something I felt I had to do.

To Dallas:

Willie Mitchell
Mitch Wahl
Brian Elliot
NYR 1st 2011

To San Jose:

Antti Niemi
Karlis Skrastins
OTT 4th 2012

frank had you by the balls and you paid too much. However you definatly needed to do this and I dont think anyone would call you dumb for doing this, some overpayments are needed.

Making sure you have SJS goaltending is worth quiet a bit, but NYR 1st (top 14) and Willie Mitchell is quiet a bit to pay on top of Brian Elliot, who *might* be the starter in OTT, but they won't have anywhere near the wins or GAA that SJS will. Solid deal.

After reading all those post. Did I do the right thing by trading Niemi. I believe this was the best deal out there.
I didn't want to trade Niemi but I felt that Elliot could become a great starter in Ottawa. Did I do the right thing or not?

IMO HELL YESS. you arent trying to win the cup this year and elliot could easily turn into ottawas number one over the next two seasons. You also added cap which you are in dire need, a decent 1st rounder and you would not have found a better deal anywhere

Frank you won this trade hands down. No one out there was going to pay as much as I did. I did it because of the position I was in more than anything else, you come out way ahead.

I went to school with Elliott. I've talked him since then. He said Semin's shot is the hardest to stop in the NHL.

That is all.

Not surprising, Semin has an absolute rocket for a wrister, and he is able to get it off lightning quick at unorthodox angles.

Semin has a ridiculus shot, the scary thing is, he is still very young

Thx that was all I needed to hear. i don't need to be told I'm the best and bla bla... I just wanted to know if I made a mistake of trading Niemi now then later. But I guest I might of done the right thing. Thx to everyone for there opinion on this deal.

did you really go to school with elliott?

on a side note, neel and i have had arguments about this a LOT:

I personally think, when healthy semin is a top 5 winger in the world.
