Re: NJD - MTL Deal
I dont see this as bending, Jokinen is a big step up from MacArthur. Gillies isnt panning out like he was originally drafted for...I figure him to end up more as a depth player in the NHL now as opposed to a top 6 forward like he was supposed to be. As for the pick I had 35 picks in this years draft, I have extra space to kill. And with a cap hit of only 1.7 mil to Jokinen and probably playing Staal's wing now with Whitney gone how can I go wrong? I think the deal was fairly even tbh.

Re: NJD - MTL Deal
U make some solid points
Gillies pretty much blows as a prospect now...however im just not sold on Jokinen...but who knows....plus MacArthur being a leaf does a lot for his value in this league..
so maybe i'm nuts

Yeah I did point out to Scott at one point Jokinen is a far cry for a lock of 60-70 pts considering he had 27 just a couple years back. Im just willing to take a risk on his upside....hes still young as well.

Re: NJD - MTL Deal
good trade for both teams imo.
Re: NJD - MTL Deal
I don't think this was a homerun deal for Jokinen by any stretch.. it's actually very fair. But if Jokinen goes back to sucking ass, then I did alright. If Jokinen continues to get better.. big loss for me.
Re: NJD - MTL Deal
i don't see Jokinen as a sure thing at all, and i think Gillies is just where i expected him to be at this point..he was always some kind of a project needing some yrs to develop.. not saying i see him becoming anything more than a 3rd liner though, at best.Habber wroteCOLONI dont see this as bending, Jokinen is a big step up from MacArthur. I'll admit i was also feeling the need to whine since it's a Scott's deal after all.. AND... i'm starting to get frustrated with the girl in your avatar, she never seems to complete her turn!

Buddy, have you seen my team? It's being deconstructed and it's shit now.. my deals are brutal!kyuss wroteCOLONi don't see Jokinen as a sure thing at all, and i think Gillies is just where i expected him to be at this point..he was always some kind of a project needing some yrs to develop.. not saying i see him becoming anything more than a 3rd liner though, at best.Habber wroteCOLONI dont see this as bending, Jokinen is a big step up from MacArthur. Jokinen is the best player in the deal but a nice return for Scott though.
You've got a lot of cap room now...is something big coming?

Yup.. Laich, Fleischmann, Frolov, Ryder, Robidas, Burrows & Byfuglien going to the highest biddersShoalzie wroteCOLONJokinen is the best player in the deal but a nice return for Scott though.

Re: NJD - MTL Deal
gonna be honest I do see this as a homerun deal for scott and I see gilles as a bust. To be fair though I saw last year as jokinens jim carey or andrew raycroft year, maybe martin lapoint year is a better example.

I was hesitant to trade him to Scott initially because it sounds like he's going to be on a line with your boy Staal. I'm curious to see what he does in his contract year as likely the top line LW. I don't think he's a total fraud...another 50-60 points season isn't unrealistic.
